I recently switched my account to M&S and used the current account switch service,The first month all the direct debits were paid, but the second month they failed to pay the credit card direct debit(which i have set to pay full amount) Anyone else have any similar problem to this before? The thing that concerns me most is the effect this will have on my credit history! I contacted them 3 days ago via direct message via my account regarding this and still no reply.

You should call them as soon as possible. Do not wait for a reply on the secure message. They should reimburse you any costs.0

when you say they failed to pay it are you sure that the credit card company itself requested it because obviously it is up to the credit card company to ask M&S for the money or are you saying that M&S bounced the direct debit
can you see the direct debit listed on your list of direct debits0 -
Yes the direct debit for the credit card is definately on my direct debit list and is active, as the first direct debit for the credit card was paid i thought it was safe to assume it has been set up and switched over correctly.0

Well, contact them ASAP and get it sorted. You can often avoid any adverse credit information being passed on if you resolve things within a timescale.: )0

It's far more likely that the credit card company messed up than your new bank.
It would have needed them, I think, not to submit the direct debit in the first place. if the DD went to your new bank, it would have been paid (unless lack of funds), if it went to your old bank - it would have been redirected to your new bank.
Speak to your card company to see what they are up to...sometimes, DD originators get confused or just have bad processes.
Sometimes they'll amend the DD with correct new details.
Sometimes they'll cancel the DD and do nothing.
Sometimes they'll cancel the DD and set up a new one with details.
In case of any screw ups, if you used the full switch rather than partial switch, you won't need to bear any admin costs - that's what the CASS guarantee covers.
Who is the card provider?0 -
You don't say which card you were trying to pay but if it was TSB then they have a plan for catching up missed payments and you will not have to do anything.0

The credit card was M & S too. Just found it strange that the first direct debit went out ok but the second one didn't. Either way its M & S's mistake and i shouldn't have to pay any late payment fees etc.0

M&s have outsourced some (most?) Support functions to India. The couple of dealings i've had with em dosent inspire a lot of confidence (I've only just become a m&s banking customer).you may be lucky if it's dealt with by the uk teams.
edit: if the credit card is M&s (same as the bank account), then you'd think that things will be more straight-forward to sort out.0 -

Been there, done that, got the badge, the tee shirt and the diploma. If you can get reimbursement under the terms of the switch account guarantee you're a better man (or woman) than I am Gunga Din.
The way it worked for me is that when the payee was informed about my new bank account they set up a new direct debit even though there was already a direct debit which was transferred from my old bank to my new bank. Then there was the usual wait while the new direct debit is confirmed which basically means that in the first month of the new direct debit I should have paid manually, i.e. with a debit card and waited until the new payment with the new direct debit at my new bank is confirmed on my credit card statement.
To cut a long story of complaints short, I paid late and the late payment was not recorded on my credit history.0
