what was the problems that the update was causing? might be easier to fix those than going backward

Presumably because Linux is useless if you want to do anything useful.

I maintain mail servers, web servers, database servers and various other things, all running under linux. I find those things useful. All the backend systems for the product I manage at work work on linux. etc etc

I'm sure for those application it's a great platform and I wouldn't knock it.
But for office use and for file compatibility with other users it's none starter. I write for living and have tried it. The linux packages that claim to to Word compliant aren't. I had so many problems when sending out what were supposed to be Word files! And as for scripts! (for TV/Movies, not programming), if it's not based on Windows it's not industry standard you can't use it.
For home use where it doesn't matter what goes wrong, I'm sure it's fine, for any pro stuff it no use at all.

A lots still quote the same old use group policy editor, which is not available in home versions.

Use metered for home which does not stop the updates. Just delays them and if the update fails it does not stop it being re-downloaded over and over. So much for metered.

I have a dual boot tablet. Android and Windows 10. I left windows update enabled and it bricked it 3 times with the same update.

Tried to install install a small program i wrote a long time ago and it said we dont recognise this program and just a large blue box with cancel on it. No obvious option to allow. Just a cancel button.

Linux works just as well as W10 for my needs.

I just like to have another option rather than be tied to Microsoft.

On my HP laptop, the win 10 upgrades kept updating the wifi card driver which made it unstable. I had to keep rolling it back after every upgrade. The firmware upgrade from HP support resulted in blue screen of death and a complete reinstall needed. My solution is just to remove win 10 and revert to win 8 - no problems since!
  • Given the OPs other post, it!!!8217;s probably safe to assume they don!!!8217;t want the update because the screen became too bright. We had the other problem in that it became too dim.

However, can you not change the brightness by clicking on the battery icon, near the clock? It!!!8217;s how we solved our issue...

That's nice for you. Lots about things that run server side but I notice very little comment about desktops....

And no I don't have a beef about Linux, been running it since RH6.
