I think the short answer is that you can't.
But I am sure others will be along with a much longer complex answer for you.

Put yourself on a metered connection until you want to try download again.

Settings / Network and Internet / Status / Change connection properties / Set as metered connection.

    Think it's something like this

Settings - updates - click on choose updates or when to get them then click don't install

As well as the tip about setting your connection to metered.

I can't comment on whether it's the correct solution but this has been posted today on another thread.

Wrong but as each new update rolled out they made it harder.

Initially just block the update service, then you needed to block several services.

Windows Update, Background Intelligent Transfer Service, Delivery Optimisation, Update Orchestrator Service..

Block just one and the others re-enable the updates.

    Keeping mine on 1703.

The only definitive, supported way to control which Windows updates are allowed is to deploy WSUS.

Define "problems" and fix them. Why fight the current?

    What problems are you having?

Why would you want to? No issues at all here.
  • Surprised no one has given the correct answer yet.
