When you say you "have tried everything" can you confirm that you have

    a. calibrated the screen (Post 6)
    b. Checked if one of the Fn keys will reduced brightness (Post 2)
    c. Gone into settings, display (Post 4)
    d. Checked if you can adjust brightness on the monitor itself. You can on mine (buttons bottom right)

When you say "no joy" are you saying that sliding the brightness slider doesnt adjust the brightness atall ?

What is the make and model of the laptop ?

The brightness slider does not work, moving sliders affects nothing. My laptop is acer aspire with intel hd graphics...ive looked online and others have had similar problems- none have the solutions have worked ??

I have this problem with my laptop and the only way round it that I found was to uninstall windows update 1803 it seems to be a driver problem and as you have found you are already using the latest one.

I have also had to uninstall the update on my desktop because it stopped my scanner and printer working.

Next to last post seems to solve it by manually installing an older graphics driver:

Edit: actually it's the first post on page 3

Go onto the Microsoft website and download "wushowhide.diagcab" and use this to hide the update.

  • Can you not adjust the brightness by clicking on the battery icon, on the bottom right hand corner of the screen and selecting the desired brightness?

Addresses an issue with the brightness controls on some laptops after updating to the Windows 10 April 2018 Update.

    Finally fixed?
