Hi
Any advice would be great. Basically I sold a Nokia N70 on ebay and the person paid through paypal on the 25th October.
He then emailed me and asked me to post to his friend in Pakistan which I said I would on Monday (yesterday). Just as well I didnt because yesterday he recalled his paypal deposit saying it was unauthorised?????
My paypal balance is now in a negative as I have since purchased things with my old balance before he recalled his money.
What should I do ????????????
Thanks in advance for any advice

Assuming I have read this correctly and you still have the phone just put money back into your paypal account and get your balance back to a positive.
Also please note that you should NEVER EVER post a mobile overseas as there is no postal insurance on mobiles over £34 sent abroad. Also, this is such an obvious scam and I am very concerned that you almost fell for it, you need to hang around on here for a while to get to know how to stay safe and secure on ebay. For a start the Pakistan address can not have been confirmed so you would have had no seller protectiin, you can't track the phone and you can't insure it.
Please please read some of the other threads and keep yourself safe on ebay.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thank you Soolin for a great reply. So many replies can be critical of people for making a mistake instead of helping and advising. I know the OP made a mistake, but good to see someone respond in a positive way :TNorn Iron Club Member No. 252 :beer:0

Relist your phone on a BIN at a sensible price for 1-3 days and ensure that you have ticked "immediate payment required" and you will be back to square one, with your Paypal account level hopefully.0

One other thing as well check your seller protection levels and make sure they are set as tightly as you are comfortable with. This may not have helped in this instance as I am assuming the 'original' bidder was UK registered, but it will help protect against malicious and scammy bids from overseas.
lastly, until you have your paypal account sorted out you need to be aware that any future sales will merely go towards clearing the negative balance. This obviously isn't a real problem but I thought it worth mentioning.
Hintza has given soem good advice I have successfully sold three phones in the past month using a BIN with immediate payment required.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. when selling items such as phones and laptops, you need to take extra care.
never post to an unconfirmed address.
if a seller wants it posting to his friend then let him post it on.
a PO or bank transfer is much safer for these sort of items.
and only selling to the UK will stop a lot of scams.Get some gorm.0 -
Also take a note of the IMEI number and a photo of the phone's condition.0

Phew!
Thank goodness you didn't post it. Sorry about the money, you'll just have to pay it back as quickly as you can.
Report as a non paying bidder in order to get your fees back & relist....and more
Have a read of this, from the ebay boards, & work your way through the suggestions.

I have had two recharges done back to me saying people didn't get their stuff. They have been legitimate buyers, confirmed addresses, left me good feedback, then months later they get their money back saying their credit card has been unauthorised.
I never got my goods back and they were sent to people in the UK, and they were handbags not phones. Paypal it seems look after the buyers not the sellers.
I even got charged something like £12 for paypals fees to process their refund, wot a cheek.
The proof I had was proof of despatch, but because I hadn't sent recorded delivery I had no signature of the person who took delivery of the item.
A few months later, the "BUYER" had got left about 10 negatives for being dodgy, but I never got my money or an appology off paypal.
At one time, I stopped all payments through paypal as I don't like the fact that they can just go into your account and take your money.
But touch wood, things have settled down and it's not happened since.0 -
As per paypal terms and conditions proof of postage is not enough to stop a paypal chargeback, only proof of delivery. This is quite correct as sellers can protect themselves whereas buyers need paypal to protect them.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
