Just after some info regarding online agents like Alpharooms etc.
Back in March we found a good deal for a Hotel in Lara Beach Turkey for a family of 4, it was a two bed suite all-inclusive deal, price was good but ridiculously cheap, just check to I emailed the hotel direct twice but got no response, I called Alpharoom and they said don't worry your booking is fine, I paid in full and had the accommodation voucher emailed to me, just to be sure I emailed Alpharooms so I had something in writing and I I got the following:
“We have already confirmed this in our previous e-mail that your booking is live and active. Rooming list for the customers will be provided to the hotel approximately 3-10 days prior to departure as per the terms which we are working with them. Because of this reason you might not find reservation on your name but we do hold the rooms under our account with the hotel”
Yesterday they tell me that their booking agent has overbooked (email said "they" hold the rooms) and the booking was cancelled. They've offered an alternative but it's no way as good,(209 out of 236 on trip advisor, original 21 of 236) however the original hotel is still showing on their site as available for my dates albeit much more expensive, to me it seems they can get more money for it rather than a overbooking. I could take a refund but everything is almost twice the price from when I originally booked.
Considering I asked them multiple times if the booking was confirmed and they replied in writing saying "they" hold the room and they took full payment are they contracted to supply if not are in breach of contract? They like to hide behind they are agent only and have no responsibility but surly they must have some, I don't even know who my contract is with as their supplier is not listed on the accommodation voucher, I’m sure they will throw this clause from their T&C’s
14. Changes and Cancellations by the Supplier/Principal
We will inform you as soon as reasonably possible if the Supplier/Principal needs to make a significant change to your confirmed Arrangements or to cancel them. We will also liaise between you and the Supplier/Principal in relation to any alternative arrangements offered by the supplier but we will have no further liability to you.

Can you not contact the hotel and book direct, have you booked flights ?0 -
I would hazard a guess that the hotel is not actually overbooked but they made a pricing error and didn't charge you enough. Either they had loaded the prices incorrectly or they had linked hotels incorrectly and its now only come. To light as you will be travelling shortly.
Have you told them that you can see it as available on the website? Are there any other alternatives you can see that might be suitable?Lea0
