    Joint life insurance policies are a bit daft IMHO. Last month when I was looking at it, the difference between in the premium for 2xsingle policies and 1 joint is minimal, for example 2 single polices for £200'000ish each were 2x£20 and the joint policy for £200'000ish was like £34.

    One of the major issues I have with them is that in the event that we both die (for example car crash) it will pay out only £200'000 to our kids.

    Also worth looking at Global treatment addon, Aviva and some others offer that, for something like £4. This gives you access to 2nd opinion in case of major illness and pays for treatments abroad for you and your kids.

    That's one reason I went with Aviva at the time, it pay for private treatment like cancer/ Heart etc

    however the OP will need a broker to ensure their situation is matched to an insurer
