I am a bit fussy when it comes to appearance and want to avoid having the travelodge interior design style, that's my only concern?

I fit bathrooms for a living. In terms of functionality, panels are excellent. No grout to deteriorate or go mouldy. The people I have installed them for love them.
But to me they look like the inside of a 1980s caravan.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -
Hate them. Totally Travelodge.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Cost - If you have to pay someone to do it, quite high.
Repairability - Fairly easy. Just sand back the damaged area and reapply.
Mold - Being alkaline, mold and bacteria won't like it.
Waterproof - Eliminately. It can be used to make sinks & baths.Doozergirl wrote: »I would LOVE that. Do you know anyone?
Can't imagine it being any harder than Venetian or polished plaster. I'd give Mike Wye a call and perhaps book one of his courses.
On the subject of Venetian plaster - I've seen some vids of an American guy using it in a wet room & shower. He nails up a moisture resistant board (possibly Hardibacker or similar), skims it with a thin-set cement product, and then slaps on a couple of layers of lime plaster. Her courage will change the world.

In this video, he applies a coat of black olive oil soap and then buffs it to a shine. Other people will trowel it on and then rub with a stone to get the final finish. In other videos, I've seen the plaster applied with a combination of a brush and roller - Doesn't appear to be a right or wrong way. The key is to compress the plaster and give it a coat or three of black soap.
And here is a pdf I stumbled across - Guia-de-Tadelakt-Ingl!s.pdf
It would appear that the main difference between Venetian plaster and Tadelakt is the former is made from non-hydraulic lime (lime putty), and the latter from a hydraulic lime. That said, genuine Moroccan lime will contain a certain amount of clay & ash, so a dash of pozzolan may need to be added if you were to mix your own using NHL2 or NHL3.5.Her courage will change the world.
