Lowest risk 3% investment?

I am looking for a safe investment that gives me something above inflation. To make the question specific, what is the safest investment that will give me 3% return on average currently?

https://www.ratesetter.com/ is currently giving 2.5% it seems.

How much money are we talking about? You can put up to £3k in a Tesco current account which gives you 3% interest.

Thanks. I should have said 20k.

You can get 20K into totally safe savings (not investments) by splitting it across all the current accounts that offer a loss leading rate and regular savers linked to current accounts.

You'll need a fair number of direct debits though.

That's a good point but seems like quite a pain. Is there a way to get 3%+ with less inconvenience?

Stick with what you've been able to find with no effort on your behalf then.
  • Assetz Capital are currently offering 5.10% for 30 day access (In normal market conditions) and 4.10% on their quick access account, this is a bonus amount though and will at sometime reduce back to normal levels.

As FSCS guaranteed deposits? Or at risk investments?

It's always worth being clear what level of risk you get for the returns quoted

Yes, you can invest it. There are 3 variables, risk, effort and return. You can take your pick which priority you apply to each but there isn't a high return, low risk, zero effort option available. Best you can get is high return low risk and some effort as mentioned above.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

It's a P2P platform so capital at risk. Would not have normally mentioned P2P in a thread like this but OP mentioned Ratesetter initially so is open to the idea of some risk for better returns.

True, I've also suggested investments above. Although the OP quoted 2.5% P2P returns which can easily be beaten by guaranteed savings accounts for the sums mentioned.

Reminds me of the project management triangle. You can do it quick, cheap or right, pick any two
