Hi,
Can anybody tell me of the very best, strongest and instant bonding glue please.
without going into boring detail and i know this sounds odd. I want to glue an old wooden garden gate which lodges into place...wood against wood shut so that it can never be opened again or even kicked open. I need something that is the strongest and quickest bond please.
many thanks

Don't think you will get an instant glue that will hold a wooden gate in place, you would have to use wood glue and secure it in place for a while.
Why not use a few wood screws?0 -

So teh boring story is that i live in and own a small bungalow..the bungalow next to me is owned by a housing association and about 10 months ago a woman moved in there.
Between the two bungalows is a sort of arch with an old wooden gate that goes into our back gardens....her back garden to one side and mine the other separated by a tall hedge. We have back doors that lead to out gardens as well. So this gate is sort of `communal/shared` but its very old...wooden and i restored and painted it.
New neighbour has turned out to be a nightmare. she does not work and has mental health illness and issues (not a problem in itself...can happen to any of us...i mention it to explain the situation).
She has two dogs that run around the communal part of that back garden with continual fouling....they bark late at night and early hours of the morning and she does not inervene......and she goes in and out and in out of this side gate umpteen times a day banging it shut......does it at 2..0 am....5.00 am - any hour night and day.
This is not a light bang but an almighty bang...the gate lodges into place and its tight and its old...the gate is attached to my property and the noise is horrendous.....it sets your heart racing.
Eventually i had to complain to her about dog fouling and barking and this almighty banging of the side gate. The result was a nightmare.......she put a bag of dog poo outside my front gate...half was tipped out and the rest just dumped there (i had to contact the council to sort it out)...she let her dogs bark continually at midnight and banged the gate over and over and over...one bang after the other. I did not respond thinking she would tire of such behaviour (she also knows that i have worked here getting all the gardens sorted out and that i like things neat and tidy and so she also put a plethora of ugly bins and boxes outside...she is obsessed with making compost heaps and her front and back garden look like a gypsy site....
She knew that i ahd spent years trying to grow a dividing hedge taller and thicker and has hacked into her side of the hedge destroying it.....its just big brown brances now....meaning that i now have holes my side and it literally sways......
I will not approach her and have not done so since i complained some months ago about the banging and dog fouling and barking. (i work really hard....i also have some health issues that are affected by stress.....amongst them is tachycardia.....her almighty banging of that fence has my heart out of my chest.....i did an 8 day working in a row and at bank holdiay weekend at 5.00 am she si banging the gate continually......dogs barking at 2.00 am.absolute nightmare....and she is bonkers...
I contacted her housing association and they agreed to speak with her and i saw what may have been a social worker going in there last week as i left for work........quieter for a few days and then starts up again......almighty banging of that side gate..the banging is now making me ill....literally......she has a front door - it is not appropriate to use that side gate as its too noisy to try to shut and she uses it because its convenient.......if i complain directly to her again i shall have to go through months of abuse and intimidation like i did last time....
I do not want to contact environmental health because its clear that i cannot remain here and sellling would then pose problems if its logged that i contacted them....
I have furiously now told the housing association that if this continues i will either physically remove that gate or take this situation further....
I cannot remove the gate because she has two dogs......I thought that perhaps the answer would be to glue it shut - you cannot open it anyway without kicking the bottom as its so tight....(lovely big lumps out of the paint where she has been kicking it)...if its glued solid shut she simply cannot use it and would not contact her landlord about it because they have told her not to use it but to use her front door......and she is bonkers anyway and so might just think its now to tight to open....if i screw it shut she will know that i have done it and will start her abuse again.....
truly i am at the end of the line with the almighty gate banging day and night.
she also has crazy flashing lights in her back garden so i have had to block my bathroom window or its like walking into a disco......truly truly barking.....
so thats why i need a really really strong glue.....and because she uses it so frequently i need something very fast drying...she doesnt seem to go out very much either (sadly!!!) so its finding the right time to do it.....
I googled the CTI stuff...thank you for that - but it seems that it needs time to cure and set.....
moving is the only solution but in the meantime i have to stop this gate banging once and for all...0 -
Wow - sorry for your situation.
I'd still screw it shut. Sink the heads well in and you'll not see any evidence of a screw....

You have my sympathy too. I was in pretty much the same situation in a rented house years ago. The gate was attached to my bedroom wall after I moved in by the council to improve security down an alleyway.
The constant banging nearly drove me crazy.0 -
Can't you stick a lock on it? A sliding bolt? Maybe with a padlock?0

Yes, there may be repercussions of some kind, but the situation is already out of hand anyway. If you get a proper resolution, it will make things easier for you in the long run.0
