Hello everyone
I have a very unsightly sebaceous cyst on my head I'd like to get removed, my GP has recommended calling a private hospital and pay for it, which I am ok with.
however on Treatwell there are quite a few offers for cyst removal , some of them really cheap:
https://www.treatwell.co.uk/places/treatment-molecyst-removal/offer-type-local/in-london-uk/sort-price-asc/
has anyone had a similar operation? can you go to the private centres listed on Treatwell safely? or for this kind of stuff you need to go to a private hospital which will definitely be A LOT more expensive?
I have done an MRI scan and it's definitely a sebaceous cyst (I had another removed in 2004 for 60 euros so it's a recurrence) so there's no risk of complications or it being something else
thank you

I had a head cyst removed 3 years ago but on the nhs, its still never felt as though its completly gone though, and the area just behind the ear sometimes gets a little bit sore.
It was also a sebacous cyst.0 -
yeah mine is most likely a recurrence, I have 2 actually but one is really small so I'll leave it for now
I don't mind paying for it, as long as it's not £300, I don't have that kind of spare cash0 -

I have a cyst and got some quotes last year and they were all between £500-600 which is apparently about average for private cyst removal. The NHS where I live has some sort of out-of-hours service where you can pay to have them removed at GP surgeries in the area and the cost is £400. Sadly I cannot afford those sorts of prices at the moment. I was a bit wary of using a cheap service given these cysts are more likely to reoccur if they aren't removed properly.0 -

The NHS hasn't funded sebaceous cyst removal for a long time (unless it is really causing you problems and they don't in the majority of cases). I have had one on my face for over a decade and have never been able to get it removed.0 -
My Husband just paid £769 to have one removed from his leg. As a bonus they took 3 small moles off his face too!0

Treatwell is not a site I would consider for medical treatment. It's no better than the yellow pages.0

I had one removed years ago on NHS - no problems, popped into the clinic, procedure over in ten minutes. It's never given me any trouble since.
If it is on your head then it will obviously cause problems when you are brushing and combing your hair - that is why I went to my GP who didn't have any hesitation in referring me to the clinic.0 -
My dad had one on his neck. His GP removed it.0
