If he's in full-time education why would you not want to continue to support him? Presumably his other parent is also supporting him while he studies?

what suggested to you that they don't want to support him?
could be if the CSA payments stop automatically they want to set up a continuing private arrangement.
The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....

Thanks everyone. CSA don't seem to know what they're doing. Partner phoned them and asked when he would stop paying for the 'child', who plays computer games in his spare time and refuses to even get a part time job but is in full time education, all they would say was that they couldn't check as there would be a computer generated letter mailed to him before the payment due date following the 20th birthday. Well, he STILL hasn't received a letter. I called them earlier today, mentioning no names, but with the general question. Was told that the actual payment would stop on the Monday following the 20th birthday. Same office as the first phone call too....

However. Just looked at the bank statement and the full amount HAS been deducted again.

Looking on the Gov.uk website it states that:

    Receiving parent

You must also tell the Child Maintenance Service or CSA if:

a child you get child maintenance for leaves full-time education (up to and including A Level) or reaches the age of 20
So from the looks of that, it seems his ex needs to ring up and tell the CMS
