Do you have a link to confirm this please?crackerberry wrote: »The Givernment announced a week or so ago that every PIP assessment is to be videoed, which is very good news and should have been in place long before now.0 -

Video to become a standard part of assessments, but they're piloting it first0 -
Interesting. But the pilot may last for many, many months, if not years ... and in the interim I doubt little, if anything, will change. But it should be a positive step if future assessments become more transparent.0

I just wanted to coma back to thank everyone on this thread, especially Alice, for the support and information.
I am currently putting the finishing touches to the MR request, using a template Alice linked to.I have taken expert advice from fightback4justice, but am really hampered by the fact i have few reports etc due to the way care is organised for children like mine in this area once they get to his age. Although i recognise I have little chance of being successful at this stage, nothing ventured, nothing gained!
I have at least managed to get the emotion out of the request and am currently trying to make sure it is as concise and focused as possible. I have only just received the report from the f2f which made very interesting reading (jackanory comes to mind!) and have to have this back by sunday .
i will report back- I'm guessing it will be a long time before i hear anything unless its a quick negative.0 -
There's no timescales for decisions, including MRs. A lot of them are copy and pasted from the original decision though, so be prepared.Almost-free wrote: »I just wanted to coma back to thank everyone on this thread, especially Alice, for the support and information.

Also be aware that fightback can and do charge for their services. There's many other disability advice centres that are more than willing to help and advise for free.
Good luck.0 -
The majority of mandatory considerations tend to uphold the original decision, don't let this dishearten you its just part of the process towards appeal, you should hear back form DPW fairly quickly on this."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0

Makes you wonder how they can get away with putting down out and out lies - when my Mum went for PIP the assessor said she stretched down (straight legged) and touched her toes!!!!!! It was laughable. Not only can she not do this, she wasnt even asked to attempt it in the meeting.0

Loz01 - Did you register a formal complaint about the assessor who lied ?0

When she had the reconsideration (which she subsequently won) she told them about that incident and they said they had to go on what the assessor had written/noted down as the "truth" of it all. So I suppose its someone's word versus yours in a way.
Our local docs didnt help tho, the PIP/DWP people wrote to them about her and a doctor who she hadn't seen in about 10/12 years wrote back and said yes she could easily walk 200/400 metres whatever it is with no problems- even tho he didn't have a single clue. Madness. Again when she pointed this out she was told they had to go on what the GP had said, regardless of the fact it wasnt a doc she had regular contact with.0 -
Liz01 - I understand c/o Alice Holt that you or your Mum could make a complaint re the assessor yourselves which should have more weight:
https://www.mypipassessment.co.uk/feedback/
Should you still be unhappy, they (i.e. DWP/ CHDA/ ATOS or Maximus etc) will send you a letter detailing what you can do next. this includes information on how to contact the Independent Case Examiner (ICE)........... The ICE will act as an impartial referee and if they think the assessor etc should have done more to help you, they will ask that it be put right. (whatever that means or involves !) .......... You must contact the ICE within 6 months of getting their (i.e. CHDA etc) final response and you must also send them a copy of your original complaint letter or email. You will not be asked to pay them for their services........"

I understand that apparently some half of the complaints are ultimately upheld, but whether that means that the dishonest assessors are then stood down is unknown to me. I doubt they are stood down, but I am a cynic !0
