Ignore the trolls
I see no trolls on this thread. The OP came here asking for someone to help with a get-out-of-jail card but when the posters basically tell him he's bang to rights he gets all angry. No-one has laughed at him or seems to be obtaining pleasure, however, the facts are the facts.
The judicial system cannot overrule contract law at the drop of a hat. Yes, payday loans are capped but only after much petitioning. I remember the days of seeing Wonga adds stating >5000% annual interest. At the time they would have been enforceable even if morally wrong.0 -
No,
If I came to you like the devil and tricked you into a signing a piece of paper with ridiculous extortionate terms when you yourself are in a vulnerable situation, knowing how difficult it is to resist then a contract like that can't be seen as valid.
If this was in actual fact credit I was taking out, its cost parameters should have been defined clearly. The debtor should be clearly identified. Is it the third party, or is it me?
I know its pointless arguing with trolls ...lets just wait for the outcome. You could be right, maybe I'll end up in debtors hell and lose a life changing £30-£40k for signing a piece of paper and borrowing a car for 2 months which doesn't even cost that to buy...or I'll have the last laugh.0 -

As i have said many times; you actively sought out this company and signed up with them nobody came to you and nobody forced you to sign and agreement before reading it, you should have walked away.I know its pointless arguing with trolls ...lets just wait for the outcome. Nobody on here is trolling i'm presenting my point of view in a logical way. Just because you can't counter my statements in a logical way doesn't mean i'm a troll.
I really can't see how you can have the last laugh, you have had 3 years of stress and worry over this situation. It must have been even more stressful considering you work at a bank so a CCJ could jeopardise your career.
If you realise your at fault in this situation then you might be able to avoid similar mistakes in the future. If you decide it's the fault of the "big bad organisations" then with that attitude you could easily fall into a similar financial trap.

People that have a different opinion are not trolls and calling them such is rude to those people that take time out of their lives to contribute to your thread.
There is very little protection in consumer rights to making a bad deal. If they can present a contract with your signiture on to a judge you are going to have a hard time convincing them that you were ripped off.Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
You think Lloyds Banking Group and Lloyds of London is the same company??? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I was talking about Lloyds of London and as the example...whatever!
Also unwittingly taking out an unknown amount of credit for hiring a car where I might not have to pay, is not the same as knowingly signing up for a set amount of credit from a pay day loan. These are two very different scenarios. I'll await the outcome and hopefully put trolls like you in your place who enjoy poking fun at the misery of others and giving them the gloomiest prospects not even considering my defense.
and even if I fail and lose £30k in this most ridiculous way...then it'll be an extremely unfortunate sad situation I'll find myself in where I'll just give up hope on everything and accept my fate, knowing insurance that rips me off annually really mugged me this time. I'll have to give up my home etc and possibly change the course of my life and children as its a colossal amount to lose for me over something so small. If something as ridiculous as that could happen then it would just be an indication of laws in this country that don't work and are comparable to something from Alice in Wonderland.
You can all have a laugh about it. I'm not embarrassed to post the outcome unlike many online forums where people don't give a final status update. I'll let you all know what happened.0 -
I don't see anything but trolls since this thread was updated.

No-one has slagged anyone off. What happened in the past is likely to affect the future (if it goes to court) so actually it's useful for the OP to stop playing the victim and start thinking about what the contributors have said, especially the ones that have offered opinions the OP does not like.
Like I have said twice before - if the car hire company have a piece of paper with OPs signature on agreeing the hire charges what exactly does the OP now expect a judge to do?Thinking critically since 1996....0
