I guess those that have called up (and have multiple accounts) and haven't come away with a warm feeling, have at least been a warning to others to possibly keep their heads down (for the sake of 6.24/6.23).

To all interested parties: it is in your interest to monitor the interest. If you don't (and you lose interest), you will literally lose interest.
An interesting thread, and an interesting read.

The last few posts on this thread make me very annoyed with myself. Sounds like I've missed out on a trick that could have been quite lucrative :-(

Why do I always discover these things too late?

Why oh why did you contact them YB and Ed? :( I thought you were both professionals at the bank tartin' game?! :D

I, like you both, have experienced similar problems but I've resisted the urge to phone them. I figured that in view of their IT fiasco, there's a reasonably good chance that this may fix itself come 2nd working day of July. In addition, I changed the SO dates this month just in case that has a positive outcome. Having said all that, the majority of mine paid out fine.

Given the fact that we've been earning 5% on what appears to be a five-figure sum for a few years now, I would have thought it was imperative to keep things on the 'down-low' - no matter what.

Even if a small handful of accounts never pay interest again, I will just suck it up and be thankful for the other accounts. Unless I missed something and none of your accounts paid interest, in which case I don't blame you for phoning them!

Right I'm going to :shhh: now.

Indeed. I hit a block online at 5 or 6 (from memory, it was around 3 years ago), but the decline letter said, to paraphrase, "whilst we can't open any more accounts, if you want to try branch then feel free". So I did, for 2 more, then after that I successfully hit the online applications again! And each and every one offered me an upgrade to Plus...so I took them up on their offers.

Out of interest, how many do you have?

Has anybody else's interest on an account that didn't pay interest on 2nd June suddenly appeared?

Yes mine was apparently credited to my two accounts on the 20th although I didn't notice it until the 22nd.
I did raise an online complaint earlier in the month but have had no response to that other than the initial automatic one.

YB, is very quiet of late, must be "cruising" in his new jag
  • This post is super interesting! I can't believe some people have 7+ of these accounts! That's amazing!
My husband has this account and I am interested in getting it as I'm sitting earning a £3 per month reward on my Halifax Reward account instead.
I'm applying for a mortgage soon so probably shouldn't switch just yet, but I have just read this article which suggests that the £5 reward for having 2 DDs is ending in Dec 18 and so is the £5 reward for making 20 contactless purchases.
Is this correct? Here's the article:

I can also see nothing on the TSB website that mentions these 2 £5 rewards
