Is my boss being unfair? 6 people taking holiday seperately?!

So 1 in 6 is ok..........................how about 1 in 7..................1 in 10.
When is the breaking point?
At the end of the day that decision is down to the company
It isn't really down to anybody else to decide what works bestFriends are angels who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly.0 -

No, holidays are part of most peoples T&C. I won't be taking all my holiday in Jan for example. There has to be a workable system. If you can not take your holiday then its not down to the company. No wonder some companies treat people like rubbish...........they dont expect anything better.0 -

Yes holidays are part of peoples T & Cs
Most people have to get holidays authorized anyway so really don't see what the big deal is
It is pretty easy to work roundFriends are angels who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly.0 -

It's not easy if the maths does not work. Hence my question.
6 people one off at a time, six weeks school holidays at two weeks..................clearly it does not work and can not be worked around in that example.0 -
The maths does work.
You keep talking about the 6 weeks school holidays as if it is relevant. It is not.0 -

No, I posed a question........if 1.6 is ok, how about 1 in 8, 1 in 10?
Its relevant to good relations and happy staff. Maybe it's not relevant to you if your experience is crappy employers and jobs. You know no different.................however some of us do and it's very relevant.0 -
The people saying it is possible are probably missing the point.
It may be possible, but you are relying on people having to take holidays at a time they do not want them - yes an employer can dictate when holidays are taken, but it does not mean there should not be some flexibility.
The alternative is that people will leave or pull sickies.
There are presumably quiet periods, why not let 2 people off then?I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Mathematically, 1 in 10 will work but 1 in 11 won't. Morale wise is of course a different matter! Perhaps it might work if imposed from the start and job ads include the holiday days for that role. But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

Yep...........take your summer holidays in Feb and all the skiers can go in July. ;-]
Maybe I have been spoiled and take my T&C, management, Union for granted.0 -

This is an easy one.
with OP the situation is 46 weeks work weeks with 6 weeks holiday
8 * 46/52 = 7.08
9 * 46/52 = 7.96
7/8 works , 8/9 does not
As has been pointed out this is not a situation any sensible employer would implement for a whole year0
