Currys missold product support

Apologies if this is a duplicate thread or in the wrong place.

I saw today an article from a couple of days ago about Currys mis-selling product support and charging customers between £3-11/month for a service they don't require.

I was missold this and recently realised I had been. I remember the conversation in store with the employee - they offered a month's free trial that I could then cancel, which I refused three or four times. We purchased our TV and Washing Machine on finance and left it at that. Checking through our bank account statements I realised that I've been charged £10.44 on a monthly basis, since last June (or so) with a name of "Currys <number>".

We have called Currys, and they maintained that we must have agreed to this (even though I refused multiple times), that they can (and did) cancel the product, but that they cannot issue a refund. They said that we should contact our bank to see the documents that we had signed (?) and dispute them if we think they are incorrect still.

I am sure that all of the documents that we signed were regarding the finance we took out via Creation and nothing to do with this product support - I can see they set up a Direct Debit with the aforementioned charge, but we did not fill anything out for this, only our Finance stuff.

Do we have a leg to stand on here and are we able to get a refund? Should I go via the bank or maintain another phone call to Currys?

Read the documents you signed. If you signed to say you wanted the product then you will face an uphill battle getting a refund.

If you didn't sign anything that said you wanted this product then you would seem to be in a strong position.

I'm guessing the salesman shoved paperwork in front of you quickly and you didn't get an opportunity to study it carefully.

It should be simple to resolve. If documents that showed you signed for it don't exist then you are entitled to a refund. Ask Currys and your bank to each send you copies of what you supposedly agreed to.

I!!!8217;ve just looked through my paperwork and there are two KnowHow papers there with my name on it, along with the Credit paperwork for the TV and Washing Machine. The difference on the two are that the credit agreement has an electronic signature - the KnowHow ones do not and are also not signed. I also don!!!8217;t remember clicking anything to sign for it electronically. I also did tell the salesman repeatedly that I didn!!!8217;t want the product.

Seeing these papers I feel less and less like I have a leg to stand on, but where can I go from here? I!!!8217;d normally say it was money wasted and !!!8220;only!!!8221; £100 over the year, but I also feel like I shouldn!!!8217;t have paid this and out of principal want to fight it.

I find it highly unlikely that your bank will have any signed documents relating to this, they don't need them, won't want to store them, and Currys would simply have set up a DD on your account electronically. Whatever paperwork exists (if any) will be with Currys and a copy for your own records.

If you purchased last June get down to the store you purchased from and ask to see the signed direct debit document. Currys keep all paperwork for 12 months before sending for shredding. If the paperwork shows your signature you can!!!8217;t do anything, you have signed for it, but if no signature you can argue with this . Currys do not do a electronic signature for there care plan only creation finance have this
