Sadly many of them will buy whatever's just been released, regardless of quality.

That's your opinion. I have an iPhone 5s which I have had since release, is one the latest version of iOS and still does everything it was supposed to do the day it was released. To me this has been the cheapest phone I ever had as well as performing very well over the time I have had it.

As for battery, they don't actually cost that much to replace given the overall cost of ownership over the long term less the cost of a replaceable battery that would have to be purchased for equivalent non iOS phone.

I have no evidence that Apple are only doing this to get more money. However going on past experience of Apple ditching hard drives, cd drives, physical keyboards on mobile phones and so called removable batteries from mobile phones when people would say it was crazy but it pushed technology forward then I’m gonna go with that.
They are certainly on the forefront of obsoleting componentry when it's coming to the end of its days.

However, they don't always get it right and I've no plans to get wireless headphones for my phone, not least because the Apple ones have serious sound leakage. The downside of losing the headphone socket is that you can't use the headset whilst charging.

Surely you can just plug your headphones into the lightning/USBC port whilst your phone is on the wireless charger?

Because I know nothing of what it's like to run a company or design and build products then I don't waste my time arm-chairing and taking simplistic's view points on why these companies make the decisions they make.

I don't care if they get it right or wrong because that is subjective to the end user. At the end of the day if they make a product that I am willing to part my hard earn cash with then that is good enough for me. I don't buy products and then complain about the the lack of features that I already knew were missing before I bought it.

There is no such thing as the perfect product for everyone and what people should do is get the best product that fits their needs and that they can afford. Once they have that product then they should get on in life enjoying it rather than complaining about the product or other companies that did not make the product in the first place.
