Question regards the cupboard doors and drawers ....

It'll be a type of coating that's put on with adhesive. It's started to peel back above the cooker (surprise surprise) but not overly noticeable. You'd have to be up close at it and looking at it to notice.

Would you just paint this coating (i assume you sand it to rough it up and give the paint a surface to stick to) or would you go through the painful process of removing it all?
  • We used tile paint in the kitchen of our old house, it went on well and lasted a good few years.

Without seeing the damage it's a bit difficult to advise so Not sure what to suggest tbh. Depends on how badly the top layer has lifted. Can it be glued down again and then filled in with something like pollyfilla or maybe wood glue or some kind of special product or has it bubbled or warped with the heat.

If it is hardly noticeable then tbh I would be inclined to just paint over it. Yes you are right you need to sand the surface for the paint to adhere and again make sure it is thoroughly degreased.

Before you make a decision I would have a look round the diy sheds and see if they are any specialist wonder products available that can help you repair or make good the damaged area. I don't know of anything offhand but the sales assistant might be able to advise you.

Shouldn't laugh but I did say it was a devil to apply. I tried it once, many years ago.

    Never again!! :rotfl:
