EE Broadband no end of contract notice or price increase warning!

I recently came to the end of my 18 month Broadband contract with EE, I had paid up front for line rental so was paying £10 a month for the BB.
Mid April I was aware it was ending soon so I logged in to check my end date; nothing on my account details just that it was an 18 month contract so I checked first bill and calculated myself the end date to be end of May.
Went away for 2 weeks in May so caught up with this on my return home to find that the contract had ended April 24th and they had auto rolled me over and charged me £35.25.
No warning email of roll over or price increase. So I called to check and they advised they don’t remind you of things like that as they send out the dates on the original email when your order etc. is confirmed and leave it to the customer to keep their eye on the dates.
I do feel silly as I’m normally on top of all things like this but as pretty much every email / text/ phone call is a company telling me my contract is nearly up / a price will increase I was satisfied that my calculation of end date was correct.
Has anyone else had this happen and is there anything I can do?
I am leaving now, I started the transfer at the weekend.
I have looked at my original email to read through contract details and not found anything advising auto roll over, but I thought they would have at least pre-warned me of the increase as it is quite a bit more than I was paying – even an email thanking me for remaining with them would have been nice! I have had many pre-increase emails from them during my time with them so why not now grrr.

Really doubt that is true, I can't think of anyone besides utility companies that do that.
You're contract isn't up or ending, it's just the end of your introductory offer and you're now on full price. Do EE not show future bills as Sky do?
This isn't a "price increase" across the board (RPI type of rise) so they're not obliged to tell you, is it so shocking that you're expected to manage your affairs?
The only thing you can do (which you've started) is to leave for a better deal, did they not offer you an improved contract?0 -
Thanks for your comments Colin.
Yes this was a slip of my affairs management clearly, grateful for the pointing out!
Yep i'm on my way out, was just wondering if anyone else could share their experience with me.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
It's perfectly normal.
As they have discontinued Line Rental saver, they couldn't even contact you to ask if you wanted that renewing.
There are some deals in this weeks letter. How much are you saving and who with?0 -

You didn't have an 18-month contract with EE, you had an ongoing contract, with a minimum 18 month period. There's a major difference.0
