Virgin Media Advise

Hi all, i moved to a new property, unfortunatly it was up in the air if we would get it, but we did.
Called Virgin Media to advise we were moving the next week, and asked them to install in our new house, but they said area was not cabled, as we have 20mb Cable Broadband with them i said i would have to cancel then.
Thats not a problem they said, but said i needed to give 30 days notice??
Now i'm not sure how its my fault that they have'nt laid cable in our new area, so do i need to pay the 30 days notice? I refused at the time as i was over my 12 month contract period with them.
Thanks

Anyone offer any advise??0

well no offence but you chose the area to move and are under contract to VM.
its fairly standard to have a cancellation period.how long until you move?0 -
Oh, we have moved already, and it was such short notice we that couldn't give notice ect.
Everything else transfered OK, i understand you point, but if VM can'nt provide me a service then surely that is grounds to cancel instantly??0 -
Hi
They are not cancelling instantly; with all due respect you are - but in your contract there will be a month's notice on either side - it's pretty standard practice and not worth getting any credit points against you for - that's my advice!!!
Oh, and not a Virgin/NTL fan by any means, but on this occasion they are right - IMHO.0 -
Just an update for anyone else in similar situation, Virgin Media or Ex-NTL area manager rang me today and confirmed i did not need to pay 30 days notice, so ended up with just £1.89 to pay as i underpaid previous month, result!!!!!!0
