We found the best place was moneycorp. However they are ONLY the best rate, if you ordered in advance and collect. We collected at the airport but maybe you can collect in the central London shops.

But I repeat they are only the best if you order in advance!
Just turning up to their bureau will get you an awful rate, as their reviews testify.

When do you need them for? Where do you live?
Reserve on line to collect in your local Thomas cook 1.1206 today no minimum spend. But if you spend £350 you get a free voucher for £15 off Feelunique which you could use to get suntan lotion.
If you have more time probably better rates online.

Assuming this is for a holiday - get a fee free card and withdraw cash when you're there. Changing cash is out of the ark. Expensive, time consuming, risky (carrying lots of cash around).

At the time of this post the mid rate was 1.1480 - which is more or less what you would obtain by using a suitable fee-free card, instead of wasting your money by exchanging cash at the likes of Thomas Cook.

Which is why i asked what the time scale is for needing the money and how late have they left to get it.
Which suitable fee free card would you recommend? and how long would it take me to get said card? Also i suppose i would need a good credit score to be able to get one of these.

If you're in the south east you can get a Metrobank debit card, they print them in branch so you can walk out with one, and as it's a debit card not a credit card I don't think credit score will matter.

If you pay for goods or withdraw money from an ATM with a card always choose to be charged in local currency not GBP. Also, some banks do charge for using their ATM. If you have time you could apply for a Halifax Clarity card - no fees, but make sure you pay off in full.
