BTW, after being caught out by a "fluttering ticket" a few years ago (I've not been back to Brighton since!), I've taken to keeping a clothes peg in the car, which I can clip onto my parking ticket to weigh it down.0

They are acknowledged by council assessors as being not fit for purpose - guidance for council fine appeals is that the tickets should have a sticky back so they can be fixed to the windscreen/dashboard.
We argue in private parking cases that this guidance is sound and should apply equally to tickets purchased from machines operated by private parking companies.
Not that councils pay any attention to this anyway - every single council machine in Swansea issues tickets without a sticky back. The clothes peg is a good idea, I'm always really careful to make sure it's left face up after I've closed the door, but sometimes when it's a windy day it takes quite a few attempts!Although a practising Solicitor, my posts here are NOT legal advice, but are personal opinion based on limited facts provided anonymously by forum users.
