Sorry, posted twice by mistake!
Just received delivery of the Playmobil Knights Empire Castle (3268) which is currently 25% at John Lewis' for £74.95. Bought it with a £10 off a £50 spend code making it £64.95 plus free delivery which is definitely a bargain since it normally retails at £120 in most other High St stores. Also a further 9% off via Quidco - not sure whether mine tracked but still happy with the price nevertheless.

The ElC ones look good, there's this one:
http://www.elc.co.uk/toy-40868 at £50 which is nice and chunky,
or there's this one from Toy Choice for £42.75

My little boy (aged 4) had a buggy and a dolly and loved that. My sister (who's a childminder) says it's good for boys and girls to play with traditionally boy/girl toys so not to worry, my little has outgrown his dolly and is now all about power rangers, transformers and cartoon violence. Enjoy his softer side while you can :rotfl::A :

You either like Playmobil or you don't. In previous years, I have bought wooden playsets (Kidkraft Firestation and Plan Toy Airport/City Station/Road & Rail System which I think are beautifully made (much better than ELC) before succumbing this year to my DS(4)'s actual likes - he absolutely loves his Playmobil Fire Rescue Set and he's been pestering me for a castle which I've ignored (due to the cost) until I spotted this bargain. Haven't built it yet but since we own some vintage Playmobil of DH's (he's 38), I would say that it's fairly indestructible and far from flimsy!0

I have just bought a fisher price castle from Argos for £18.74 - which includes the 25% discount for this week (starting today till next tuesday, i think) - this looks like a good cheaper alternative if, like me, you don't want to spend as much.

My 4 now aged 17,15,13 and 6 love this.
We bought 1 castle and that was us hooked. A 2nd hand fort from e-bay was added and lots of the litlwe cheaper sets followed over the years as friends realised we liked these. Even now my 13yr old can disappear and be found an hour later having got lost in the imaginary world... very good for imaginative play and very tough.0 -
Hi
Last January Playmobil were selling off direct half price lots of their toys.
All of them had damaged boxes or were returns but all complete.
Don't know if they'll do the same thing next year but worth keeping an eye open.0 -
I was just in my local TK Maxx and found the Playmobil Knights Castles for 38 pounds (toy shops sell it for 80-90 pounds) as well as the similarily discounted playmobil grocery store. There were at least ten castles and five grocery store sets. Outstanding bargain as we are a playmobil family and know all too well what they normally cost. They also had some accessory sets discounted. Well worth a visit as most TK Maxx have a Christmas toy section with similar items.0

I know that with most things, especially toys,
'you get what you pay for!!'
And I purchased a castle from "pound-stretchers" last year '06 4 my iccle boy 4 his christmas pressie '06.
It was reduced from £30 to £15 (usual sticker found on most of their products.)
And then reduced from £15 to £7.50. (was only 2 on reduced end shelf)
Some of the knights arms/legs came off after couple of months and It was eventually broken in half during summer. All of acsessories (cannon, balls, knights, swords ect) have all broke and/or been thrown out 'you get what you pay for!!' lol.
Im trying to throw castle out but son enjoys playing with it.
 Anyway my point was:-
Wilkinsons have a castle on sale (with some of the usual "reduced" stickers found on products) saying:-
Was £20 - Now £10.00.
Anyone got any comments or have purchased this item?
Or any advise on wooden castles/forts ?
Are these better made/better quality/longer lasting ?
