Go late May/ June or end of August/ September, if there is a school fine just pay it.
Someone has to pay for those package holiday TV adverts, do you want to? If not do a DIY holiday.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -

Another moron here advocating worsening your children's education while simultaneously teaching the kids that its ok to skip school. I really wish the school fines were much higher...
Just find another package. Book the flights and accommodation yourself. Easy....0 -
I wouldn't look at package holidays either
Book flights and accommodation separately.
We have been to Italy last couple of years and booked the flights with Ryanair as soon as they have gone on sale for the following Summer which is generally in September.
Accommodation wise we stayed in a mobile home on a campsite which we thought offered good value for money. The 1st year we booked with Selectcamp and the 2nd year with the campsite direct (as we wanted a mobile home with 3 bedrooms). All air conditioned with good cooking facilities etc. Obviously there are companies like Eurocamp and Canvas that do this type of accomodation as well as direct withthe campsites but also look at companies like Roan who are Dutch and as the Dutch kids go back to school a bit earlier you can get some good deals towards the end of August.0 -
Perhaps you should look at the £60 not as a fine but for a refund for the "FREE" education you receive. I am sure the week will cost more than £60 per child. It's a shame that you don't value their education.
It's also teaching them a lesson of commitment, would you be happy of them skipping a job to go on holiday when their employer was unwilling to give them leave?0 -

The best educators for five year olds are their parents and their family adults.
You can still go on a good holiday and only miss a few days school at the most.
You do not do this when the child would remember it happening and have learnt about it.
This moron knows a kid is a baby goat, perhaps you need to learn about the correct terminology for human offspring.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -

Who is advocating a full week off or more? that is your own wrong assumption.
There is no harm with very young children missing a few days of school.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
Try booking separately easyjet or jet2 and booking.com. Usually most hotels offer free cancellation too0

We have just booked a holiday abroad for us next year which is £2400 with jet2. This is half board so only have to find somewhere for lunch. The hotel looks lovely and this is the first beach holiday for our kids who will be 12 and 7 next year and we are going just after Scottish school finish up as I also work in a school so can't go earlier. There were other hotels slightly cheaper which still had kids club. Have a look as they have reasonable deals on the now.0

We've booked this year for last 2 weeks in August, English schools are still off, but Scottish hols are over in the last week.
We saved £400 by flying from Glasgow rather than Manchester.
Same dates, same hotel, still works out at about £300 saving after paying O/N hotel in Glasgow.0 -
Now seriously.... will children of 4 and 5 really suffer from a week away from school. They are in nursery or reception.
I would pay the fine to get away on the shoulder seasons for a greatly reduced price. Win win.
I'd pay the fine not to be controlled by some Local Authority jobsworth too.0
