White walls with yellow patches

I’ve just purchased a house I plan to let which was in great condition when I viewed it several months ago. I’ve just got the keys and found a minor problem.
The house was freshly plastered and all the walls painted white. In a few rooms, the white walls have yellow patches. If I rub my fingers across the wall, white paint transfers onto my hands.
I’ve placed a dehumidifier in the house.
Does anyone know how best to fix the yellow patches? Is it just a case of repainting? Is it worth painting with a Mould paint?

That all depends on what the cause is.
This isn't the correct place to post as it has nothing to do with buying or selling property. Try asking in the 'In my home' sub-forum instead.

I bet it's the "dab" they used to stick the plasterboard to the wall ... possibly a damp wall - is there an old chimney behind there at all?0

No. It’s on odd walls around the house. Nothing major - minor patches.0

Heavy smoker's house maybe? It's likely it would come through paint. Might've been done to hide it temporarily.2024 wins: *must start comping again!*0

Could be caused by painting plaster with one make of paint then painting over that with a different make.
Try covering the wall with gloss undercoat, leave it for 48 hours then paint emulsion the colour of your choice with the same make as the undercoat which you used. Worked for me when I had the same problem.0 -
External walls? Chimney breasts?
What's on the other side of those walls?Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

All internal walls. Some of the walls link to the property next door, some are fully internal - linking rooms.0

Zinsser cover stain is my stain paint of choice. Will still keep coming through if there is an underlying damp issue though0
