Hello chums back home from Bromley after taking my sis-in-law home after the weekend in my house.I love her dearly but her only bad habit is she smokes, it feels like incessantly, and although its out in the garden it feels like I can smell it indoors so everything is being washed at the moment cushion covers etc.I have tried for the past 45 years to talk her out of it but now have given it up as a lost cause. But when my house is smoke-free it feels as though I can still smell it .

I would do anything for her as she is a dear soul, but I do so worry that the effects will catch up with her sooner rather than later as she has the most awful cough at times.

So one wash has been done and dried, and the second, throw from the sofa, and cushion covers are going round in the machine at the moment

But it was lovely to see her and yesterday we went with my DD and the boys to Westgate for a few hours, then as it was a bit too hot there we went along to Herne bay and had a nice ice cream and sat with a lovely cool breeze blowing to cool us down a bit.back to Dds where my son-in-law was cooking the BBQ for dinner last night a really nice day.

This afternoon its really sweltering hot at the moment and very humid so we really could do with a drop of wind or even a shower to cool us down a bit.

I have ironing to do and some catch-up tv to watch as my sis-in-law isn't keen on so many of the programmes on TV and when I have visitors I too am not keen on TV as I would rather have a good natter.

eldest DD facetimes us last night from LA and they had a good flight and Harrison Ford was on it :) I said what was he like and she said looked very ancient :):):)
They upgraded their flight as it is their Pearl wedding anniversary trip so her OH wanted it to be a super special flight ,bless him.

They are in a nice hotel almost next door to Universal studios and they are doing a tour there today, and in the afternoon they are going to 'muscle beach' !!! Don't ask I haven't a clue. But they seem to be having a good time .
Right time to get the kettle on for a cuppa hope everyone is enjoying the long hot bank holiday weekend

    Cheers chums

    Afternoon all.

Thanks so much for the encouraging comments! And there will be G&Ts out there soon. Outdoor furniture is being made soon though I may drag out my existing folding chairs out there before then.

My day has been satisfying. I went off to work (all peaceful apart from one stroppy student who soon got a surprise change of heart after being pulled out of class and spoken to). When I arrived home I found that ex-OH had, not only fixed the 'broken' mower :o but also cut the grass and put together a garden table which had been languishing outside for 10 months. :o

To add to his glory he told me that his BT mobile sim was showing 4G. My O2 sim only has GPRS / 2G. Luckily I'm out of contract with O2 at the end of June so have organised a new SIM. BT is £16 a month for 15GB and unlimited texts / minutes and 4G whilst the O2 deal is £14 a month for 2GB unlimited texts/ minutes on 2G. It's a no-brainer. Ex's do have their uses! :rotfl:

We had a lovely lunch out before he left. Dave came to say 'hello' and began eating the hanging bead curtain.

My DM is so much better. It's amazing how the body heals when pain free. My 'fretting' has been downgraded to the usual general worrying.

Gers, so glad your DM is better!
Those are good deals on the sim only plans, especially the BT one! Have just gone to a sim only plan myself but chose not to stay with provider as it was a year long contract and I wanted freedom to move around, deal dependent.

    Hi everyone

I did manage to get out in the garden and cut the 2 front lawns. Mr Fix It, not to be outdone has demolished the side hedge in the back. It's a shame but it never recovered from the winter snow fall :(.

DD called in with Jasper as we were packing away the tools, as DGD has gone for an over nighter at t'other nans and DGS is in the pictures with his Dad. The forecast rain hasn't appeared yet but it is very muggy.
Please everyone stop talking about ironing, it's making me come over all unnecessary :rotfl: :rotfl:

Gers so glad your DM is feeling better.

Nelski I have PM'd you xx

    Hi everyone.
I've been reading but not got round to posting. I'm on holiday for a week for half-term so enjoying just pottering about. It's been nice here the last couple of days so I've managed to get a lot done in the garden...though this afternoon the mist was swirling and getting closer, but we managed to get a good few hours sunshine.
Eldest DD came home on Friday night for the weekend...it has been lovely to have her company. We're going to Newcastle for the day tomorrow and then she'll go back home to Leeds. Just for 10 days though, then my brother is going to collect her and all her belongings. Two days later she'll go off on her month long trip to Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia! It's hard keeping up sometimes.

Well Lu got her bath NW. It’s been really warm here this afternoon so seemed a better option that donning boots, hat and gloves to ride. I went over in cut off jeans and a vest top but ever safety conscious also wore my ankle length yard boots, my I looked fetching :rotfl:
Lu certainly enjoyed the attention, it was actually an enjoyable thing to do on a hot, summers afternoon and the end product was a pristine, white horse. Cue the singing :D
