Old Style Daily Monday 28th May 2018

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone :hello:
I came back home yesterday evening because my brother had to go and collect my sister in law and nephew from the airport which he hadn’t expected to have to do. I could have gone with him, but didn’t fancy a late night, early hours of the morning drive so he dropped me back home on his way.
It was really nice to go away, and I enjoyed spending time with him. We went out for a nice meal Saturday evening and my niece came with us which really pleased me because she chose that over going out with her friends.
Today is back to reality. It was nice to come back to a clean house, so I don’t have any housework that needs doing. I have one load of washing to do this morning, but that is all.
I will try to go out somewhere today but I’m not sure what I fancy doing yet. I think I will see what the weather is like before deciding.
I hope that your mum is feeling much better this morning Gers. The bark looks great, and the view is fantastic.
Redruby I’m sorry to hear about the incident at work. I hope that the person responsible is permanently suspended.
Judi you do so much for your family, it is time to look after you a bit more, you do need some me time.
Cranky it is good to read that you are back to socializing again. The couch to 5k sounds like hard work.
I hope that Mr TA continues to manage eating a little bit more TA.
Have a good day everyone.0 -
Good morning everyone.
Thanks for the thread HH - I hope your stay with your brother was successful.
It's another glorious start to the day. Despite it being a bank holiday college still runs as normal, this is the final week of term so it's all go.
I wish all a lovely day whatever you do. Happy Monday.0 -
Morning folks and thanks HOLLY. Glad you enjoyed your w/e away. GERS just been looking at your pics now the bark is down. Looks a totally different garden!
We have mist this morning but they say the sun will burn through by lunchtime. We are still avoiding the spectacular storms and floods affecting you down country from us thank goodness.
I actually tackled the weeds in the front garden yesterday and dug it over (again!) so it's now ready for a few bedding plants when I cba looking. Certainly not today when the Bank Holiday hordes will be out in force! Today I need to tackle the back which is even worse! We are still "fenceless" out there too so really need to get that sorted. The house next door is empty since our neighbour went in the care home so we felt there was no rush to do it - 12 months ago!!!!
Not such a good eating day yesterday for Mr TA. He didn't feel like eating much and I can't force him. He did have two of the nutritional strawberry shakes though so that was something. Hopefully today might be better.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all who want/need them. DUMPLING thinking of you x Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -

Mr tru was going to the community centre yesterday morning so I took Scampi out at the same time. He pulled like a steam train all the way there, when mr tru disappeared inside he walked nicely. This happened last time we walked him together, mr tru swears it's not because of him but I see him outside with Scampi and when he thinks I'm not looking, he lets him do whatever he likes. I've told him I'll be going on my own from now on. Him not happy, me no care

The new dog food order turned up just before lunch yesterday. No-one knows what happened to the original order.
It rained a lot yesterday morning but was nice and sunny in the afternoon. Not sure what the weather is supposed to do today, it's cloudy and still at the moment. It's the Cheese Roll today, lots of loony people flinging themselves down the hill
I've watched it once or twice, it's insane. I've visited on a normal day too and decided to walk up it. It doesn't look too bad from the bottom, halfway up I had to crawl because I was convinced I'd tip backwards and fall all the way down. Shuffled back down on my bum, there was no way I would've stayed upright, even walking carefully

I'll be going out for a walk then paper shuffling for a while. More crochet later, the blanket is starting to look a bit mad so I'm pleased with it

Good morning. It's grey here at the moment, but not cold - I think it's forecast to be a good day.
Your garden's looking good Gers.
Sorry to hear that Mr Ta is not doing so well TA, hope he'll do a bit better today.
Glad you enjoyed your time away Holly, it's a change of scene.
I was putting a few plants in yesterday, at the back. Our small front garden is ok, but the earth never looks right - it just looks like black muck, always has done. I've looked at other peoples' gardens on our side as I've walked down the street and theirs seem to be the same. I'm going to check the other side the next time I walk down, The fact that it faces north doesn't help for planting spring bulbs, though snowdrops do well, and the hydrangea does as well. I tend to plant spring stuff in containers, keep them in the back through the winter, then take them through when they flower.
Enough waffling about my garden woes, what's in store for today - the short answer is I don't know - might go out if the sun breaks through. There's always stuff to do here, but nothing pressing. Talking about pressing, I'm keeping my ironing up to date whoo hoo!!
Anyway, hope everyone has a good day.
Take care folks.0 -
Morning everyone and thanks for the start Holly, am glad you enjoyed your weekend.
It’s very misty here at the moment but it is meant to burn off soon, it’s very warm and still out there.
Like TA I will be avoiding any shops or garden centres today, Lu had the day off yesterday so will get over to see her, maybe ride, maybe give her a cool bath. Other than that not many plans, food will be open the fridge, survey leftovers and cobble a meal together
Your garden looks fab with the bark down Gers so jealous of your view!
Have a good day folks x0 -
Morning All
It's a beautiful morning here, 3 loads of washing on the line, another to do when I've had a shower.
Drove home yesterday from 'up north', the roads weren't too bad and the views were stunning. The garden plants were glad to get a water, I'll go to the allotment this afternoon to see what that's like, probably as dry as an old stick.
Your garden looks fantastic Gers, I'll be up to sit on the bench to have a G&T soon!
RR - what a scary time, hope you're ok.
Have a happy Monday, take care. XX0 -

Good morning everyone,
After a glorious couple of days, the clouds are back. Although the forecast is for it to be another scorcher.
A lovely and busy weekend which included friends, family, food and drinks. What more can one ask for.
Potentially got 2 x games of football tonight but they might be cancelled with it being a holiday. If so, I've ironing to do along with some admin work on the laptop.
Hope everyone has a lovely week
