I have been duped by an old friend (£200). What are my options?

Assuming your "friend" actually was the one who scammed you do you know any details of their family and can you try to get hold of him that way? Or try phoning the company (assuming he wasn't lying which is unlikely) and asking if he still works there and can you have the phone number.
Alternatively chalk it up to experience and think yourself lucky it wasn't more than £200.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. OP £200 is a really cheap life lesson about never lending friends or family money. Many threads on here where people have lost 4 5 and even 6 figures.
Just make sure you never lend anyone anything ever again, if you want to help gift the money!0 -
I’ve looked back over our previous conversation and it’s definitely him and not an impersonation as he mentioned something that I said at school.
For a small amount you have to decide if it's worth taking further, small claims court is an option but you need an address to send it to.0 -
Thanks for your advice guys! It's much appreciated. I might just have to suck it up.0

At least ensure all his facebook friends know0

The OP had a telephone conversation with him for crying out loud. Wish people would read. Sorry OP, guess you'd just got unlucky.0

Yeah but he is rather vague on that, "he mentioned something I said at school" Not exactly hard evidence.
Some people give their entire life story away on social media. Possible this friend mentioned this to someone else or posted it somewhere.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Impressive the fraudster was able to impersonate the voice of his friend as well.0

Yes, but less impressive if you haven't spoken to them for 15 years or so. Would you honestly recognise the voice of someone from back then?
OP - sorry, but either it was a scam and the money is gone, or your friend really isn't a friend and the money is gone.0
