Giving notice due to change of terms - Can I give a longer notice?

Hello all,
So PlusNet have changed their T&C recently to increase the cost of broadband and given me 30 days to give 14 days notice to cancel without termination fees.
Currently I am 9 months into a 18 month broadband contract (landline PAYG).
Is it legally my right to give a longer notice, i.e. say I want to terminate in August (which is more than 14 days) or can I only opt for exactly 14 days?
I haven't called them yet (waited 40 mins on hold and gave up) but I imagine their answer from Customer Support likely will be that I can't, but I would like to know if I can legally, in which case I will write it as a ticket quoting my rights.
Would the broadband cancellation charge of 31 quid also apply or not?
Thanks in advance

The "get out without early exit fees" is only available if:
1. You notify Plusnet within 30 days of their email announcing the price rise being sent to you (not when you read it but when Plusnet sent it); AND
2. Once you have notified them, you must start a switch away promptly (you cannot wait months)
The Cessation Charge is paid regardless when you move to Virgin, any LLU provider (Sky, TalkTalk) or when the new provider puts the wrong code into the order system. It is a charge for removal of the line from the BT Openreach network and Plusnet can and will always charge you for it. if Openreach bill them. There is no get out clause.
