Well, I sympathise with her. I would hate to have you as neighbours. However, I don't think there is much she can do other than make herself such a nuisance to your landlord with constant complaints that he decides you aren't worth the hassle. He is clearly unconcerned by smoking so I can't see him doing anything.

Hate to have neighbours like that? This couple has pretty much bent over backwards to please their neighbour. I don't like smoking either but I would rather have nice neighbours than ones that don't smoke and climb on chairs to interrupt their neighbours, or the kind that tell you what to do on your own property. Or even imply they will complain about them to the landlord. Even with all that, this couple have still sent out a welcoming hand.

To the OP, there is nothing more you can do. I would just continue to carry on as you are. I have a nightmare neighbour. She just comes shouting at us for any gardening we do here. When she comes out, I just smile, say hello, invite her over for tea and carry on. She will never come over for tea and many times she will just go back in the house. I was a basket case for the longest. I still get a bit anxious about gardening but we have to do garden work to keep it nice. I feel for her husband as she will lay into for hours in front of their house.

Nothing to add to the comments above, save that there's one good thing to come out of this - you have given up smoking and long may it continue.

Your next step is to give up vaping, just think of all the money you will save and all the health benefits from giving up.

As a further incentive put the cost of any smokes or vapes you would have bought into a savings account instead of setting fire to it and watch it grow instead of evaporating away.

Can I suggest large and frequent bonfires?

We, like the OP are renting. In our last house we had one bonfire, quite a small one. Next door neighbour, (let’s just say, and being polite, we didn’t get on) called the fire brigade. They were annoyed at being called our unnecessarily (they were really lovely to us), I hope there werent any emergencies at the same time.

She can't get you kicked out, but I do feel sorry for her. Smoking is a really antisocial habit and by smoking outside to protect the house from the smell and the damage you make it your neighbour's problem. I would absolutely hate to live in between to smoking households, it would ruin my enjoyment of my garden.

Definitely keep up with quitting, a shame your partner is acting like a child, but maybe if you are successful he will be inspired.

If the LL ever lived there, he prob knows what she's like. In fact, he may only have resorted to renting it out cos of a neighbour dispute with her! Who knows!

Desperately trying!!! One week without one though so fingers crossed!

We invited the other neighbour round for a drink over the bank holiday weekend (we would have invited her too but she was away). We were told not to show any weakness as that's when she goes in for the kill!!

She's very very nosey. I had my in laws round last weekend as she just stood up on a chair and interrupted our conversation!!!

First 2 months are hardest, when you feel how much energy you get back you'll never want to start again.

Vaping may be safer for you and less noticeable for your neighbor but best to quit ;)

I would hate it if I had a neighbour who smoked and the stench came into my house.
