Old Style Daily Friday 25th May 2018

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone :hello:
I’ve just had a look outside and it’s raining quite heavily. It looks like it is set in for a while. I was enjoying having the sunny warm weather we have been having here.
I had intended to clean the house and pack to go away for the weekend yesterday but somehow that didn’t happen.
So I now need to pack and then have a cleaning session this morning. I want to get an early afternoon train to the town where my brother lives. He is working today but will be able to break off from what he is doing to run me up to his house.
Hopefully the trains will all be running ok, if they are not I can get a bus there but it goes around a lot of villages and takes over any hour, and I much prefer trains.
Before I start on anything though, I need some tea. I seem to have let the one I made earlier go cold.
Camelot have a good break with your friends.
Silver-oldie it was good to hear that your mum was much more pleasant when you visited, I hope that it was the same when you went to see her yesterday.
Good luck with the job Specky.
Have a good day everyone.0 -

Morning folks and thanks HOLLY. Welcome home Mrs SD. No rain yet here but light showers are forecast. It seems weeks since we last saw rain and the ground is rock hard.
Got the fridge stocked up again after yesterday's shop. I am still not to grips with the re=organised kitchen cupboards and I can never find the tins, packets etc I am looking for in them. I must find time to make an inventory as I don't want to find myself out of something.
DS called after work yesterday and sat in the garden with us for a while. It's his birthday on Saturday - my "baby" is 43! He has started playing cricket again with the village team and his present is some money towards a shiny new bat. OMG I never knew how expensive they could be, he says you can pay £1,000's for one! His won't be so expensive!
I must get my industrious head on now as it's the much needed Friday Tidy day and the house definitely needs it. Too much time has been spent sitting in the sunshine this week instead of cleaning.
First I must try and devise a menu for today's little and often meals for Mr TA. On paper it should work but it rarely does. He doesn't have enough awake time to eat what I have planned, if that makes sense. The days have gone when he could eat everything I put in front of him.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) as always for all who need/want them. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning everyone
hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Dark, dreich and damp here this morning, it starting raining yesterday evening and hasn't stopped since, rain is forecast on and off all day then in to the weekend, we'll see.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.
Dinner last night was HM chicken, bacon and mushroom pie, mash, broc, peas and gravy - menfolk all had seconds so none left. Tonight will be something quick and easy with chips for the menfolk, jacket potato/salad for me.
Yesterday wasn't very productive, spent all morning at the training session, then went straight to town to visit the bank and building society, called in at MrL**l on the way home to pick up a couple of bits, then home and by that time it was 2pm, and I hadn't had any lunch so quickly ate some salad, then made a couple of phone calls and did a couple of jobs on pc. Washing did get done. So today I'll do what I can, I definitely need to continue with the washing, and drying, ironing needs doing, I'll run the hoover over also.
Keep safe and well x

Welcome back Bargainbird  I thought I said hello to you the other day but I checked back and I hadn'tSorry bout that

It's tipping down at the moment and is dark and gloomy. Not sure how much time I'll be spending outside today, one weather site shows no rain and another says rain for the next three hours and a chance of a storm. I'll just look out of the window, it's much more reliable
My blanket is slowly growing, I'm not sure if it's going to look brilliantly creative or a little bit too colourful and crazy, lol. I'll carry on with it and see how it goes.
I'll do a bit of housework this morning then get work out of the way, there's not much to do so it won't take long. Then crochet, in the garden if the weather's nice later.

Last day of term, good job because I'm hanging.

Morning everyone, I think I too may have missed saying hello to Bargain bird, oops.
Patchy night's sleep for me, I woke up repeatedly and got up at 4.30 in the end.
It is raining and although I have washing to dry, yesterday I saw a lot of very yellow, dried out grass so this should help revive things.
Time to think about the Friday Tidy, but thinking about it is the nearest I'll get at this early hour, noisy tidying goes down like a lead balloon here. It is what my DS often calls totally unnecessary housework. There are times when I feel like tidying his carp into a bin bag.
Shock horror, I had to have black tea this morning because the milk was off. There is full fat milk that OH likes but I really can't drink tea with that in, I like skimmed milk. A first world problem I know but I do want a proper cup of tea and I want it now, immediately, urgently so OH will be despatched to get milk for me when he emerges.
I am still wearing my pjs, they are the height of sophistication as they have that Rolling Stones mouth logo on the front and little mouths all over the bottoms. Possibly might need to start acting like an adult now that I'm ancient.
Hope everyone has a good dayI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning all
The sun is back :j, I think we are having showers on and off all weekend but some sunny spells too which is good !!
Off to work for me today to the other site which should be quiet, also we have had a new coffee machine put in and we had some training the other day so I can practice at being a barista
Not having a takeaway tonight as we have some chicken that needs using so will make summer in winter chicken, which we all like.
Got a chap coming this morning to look at the garden with a view to laying a patio on half of it, we don't have any time for gardening and the bit of decking we have is starting to rot away, so we will see what price he comes back with.
Right better go and get dressed, have good days all xx0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
It's rained quite heavily overnight but it's dry and bright outside now. I'm sure everyone's garden has needed a good drink though so that's good. Steve has gone off to work and Phoebe and Lilly are getting ready for school/college. Phoebe has 2 exams today so is feeling a bit stressed at the moment. She had a proper meltdown yesterday which was very upsetting but seems a little bit calmer today.
I have just checked the bank and Steve's wages haven't been paid in so I messaged him and he said that nobody's wages have gone in and there was much wailing and gnashing of teeth going on in the factory. I hope it gets sorted quickly as it is a Bank Holiday on Monday and it will be horrible to have no money over the weekend. It is also Lilly's 17th birthday on Monday so I must get her a card even if we have no money to put in it.
I'm making paella for tea tonight as it didn't get made the other day and the prawns have to be used by today. I don't normally care about dates on food using my own common sense and the sniff test but I will make an exception for shellfish. I made corned beef hash yesterday which nobody ate due to all the emotions flying around so I just heated myself a nice portion for breakfast. It was yummy!
I hope you all have a great day whatever you are doing. Take care xx0
