MSE News: TSB cancels direct debits of customers who've switched away - and claims they've DIED

This particular problem is affecting ex-customers who've switched away already.
If they are customers who have already gone it isn't going to affect TSB much (you can't switch your account away twice) and for people thinking of switching away it might serve as a warning that staying put for the time being is the best approach.
So not really a big deal - except for the people who've been sent letters telling them they are dead.
No big deal ? So you would like to be sent a letter telling you were dead ? and having to contact companies to tell them that you are okay !
TSB are making so many errors. I don't think they know what they are doing internally.
For people looking to switch, I would send them an em saying you cannot switch because you have no confidence in TSB processes to complete the switch. Tell them they need to confirm that they will complete the switch and ask for compensation.0 -
I didn't have this problem when I switched because although I used CASS, I migrated the direct debits I had before I switched. The only thing that was switched using CASS, was my other source of income.
I realise there are some avid loyal TSB customers who are frequent contributors to this forum who seemingly won't entertain a harsh word said about the bank and who then chastise those of us who don't fall in line with their opinion of this bank, but this latest news is utterly inexcusable if true.
Personally, I'm glad I'm no longer a customer. 'Nuff said.0 -
Thank goodness RBS avoided divesting itself of branches.0

"The end" seems a bit over the top don't you think?
Perhaps, but when you add them to their list of other !!!! ups, its understandable that some customers may want to jump ship.
I am one of them, I don’t trust them with my money, but I also dont trust the companies who wont get their money due to TSB and their screw ups not marking me as missed/late payments or charging me. Even if it is able to be sorted out, its a long slog to explain and wait etc
I get paid next week into TSB, I am bricking it in case I am unable to access my wages0 -

Agreed.
Please note that the TSB fans have gone very quiet over the last few days. We have not heard from Mr TSB for a few days.0 -

Agreed, as a customer thinking the same.Hi there! We’ve had to remove your signature. It was so good we removed it because we cannot think of one so good as you had and need to protect others from seeing such a great signature.0 -

If that comment in any way refers to me then it is grossly misguided and inaccurate. I have pointed out the logical fallacies in some people's comments and corrected ridiculous assertions that TSB are to blame for things that are beyond their control. I am not an "avid loyal TSB customer," but I believe criticism should be appropriate. In this particular case, I believe that they are worthy of criticism, although the report doesn't indicate the scale of the issue. If, as it claims, "several" (former) customers have been affected then it is not a sizeable problem.
I do have a TSB account, and will continue to do so for exactly as long as it is profitable for me to do so. When it ceases to be, I will have no compunction about moving the relevant financial dealings elsewhere.
You are entitled to be glad that you are no longer a TSB customer (although as a former customer this issue did not affect you, and if you continued to be a customer then it would not affect you). I have incurred absolutely no losses as a result of their recent IT issues, and all my transactions have been processed correctly and in a timely manner. I was without access to my online account (not my account as a whole) for a little under a week. I am entitled to be satisfied with the service.
I am not a member of the entitled, outraged, angry mob, and neither will I join them.
Perhaps you should confine yourself to the facts, rather than engaging in attacking people who have sought to present dispassionate and balanced comments.0 -

Another facile comment, and also inaccurate. I posted yesterday, but unlike you I only post when I have something pertinent to add. Have you gone blind?0 -

The two posters I quoted were making it sound like the end of the World for TSB... in reality these are customers who've already been lost, and compared to the other issues going on a mistake in letters about DD's is a minor issue (albeit potentially distressing for the individuals concerned, as I noted)TSB are making so many errors. I don't think they know what they are doing internally."In the future, everyone will be rich for 15 minutes"0
