Fibre broadband - Virgin and Openreach

Do Virgin and Openreach use the same wiring/infrastructure? I'm in a new build estate that is currently connected to an old BT exchange that offers low broadband speeds so I'm considering my broadband options. I've been asking my MP to find out when my estate will receive Virgin and Openreach fibre. I thought Virgin run their own cabling/infrastructure separate to Openreach however my local MP has said that it's Openreach who are handling the infrastructure side of things.

I guess I should consider a 4G dongle as a temporary solution. :/

VM cabling is used by VM only .
BT OR cabling can be used by a number of ISPs.

VM decide what areas they want to cable for their own services not BT OR .
BT OR play no part in VMs decisions .
Your exchange upgrade and Fibre is handled by BT OR .
Virgin may never supply your location with services .Your MP has no say on a private company's plans .

An MP has no more access to this information than you do. VM and OR are not government departments and not answerable to MPs.

Are other homes connected to Virgin ?
You could ask Virgin if or when the estate will be connected.

Apart from the estate/other homes in the town are connected to Virgin. They rolled it out as part of their Project Lightning expansion plan in 2015.

VM did a survey in my VM free area a few years ago as to would you like our services .
Enough must have replied yes as VM have been digging up the pavements this year .
