Dealership will not repair my CAr

Hi,
Would appreciate all help with my current situation. I have a lexus 2008 diesel which broke down last year with DPF filter issues. I tuck the car to Lexus and this did a diagnostic and advised me of the repair that is required.
They quoted me £1600 for a new filter and sensor which I paid as my car is on finance and wanted to get it back on the road. So that I'am not paying for a car that I am not using.
So the work came with a 12 month parts warranty but know this same issue has happened again 2 weeks ago, did the same think tuck the car to Lexus they did another diagnostic and advised me that because of another part being blocked it has caused the DPF filter to not work again. Also they mentioned as its a diesel it should be driven in a certain way. But all this information was not given to me on the 1st repair and there is no terms or conditions of the warranty that advise if another part contributes to the failure of the DPF filter or if you do not drive it correct the warranty is not valid.
Now they are disputing the and not will to repair the car, and I am still paying finance for it it, I have advised me finance provider who is also investigating it.
What should I do if I am left with a faulty car ? as I can't afford another £1600 bill.
Many thanks

You need to get rid of it and get a petrol engine. I'm guessing from the symptoms you don't do regular long journeys?
If I'm right then it's going to keep on happening.0 -
Hi waamo
hard to get rid of it when the car needs repairing also we where driving the regularly on the motor way
thanks0 -
What kind of milage do you do monthly? Driving on the motorway could be as short as a couple of miles.
Ultimately it's a 10 year old car and the DPF is a consumable item. With the wrong driving conditions it will clog regularly meaning an eye watering annual running cost.
If the second issue with it is down to the wrong driving conditions I can't see them doing much to help you. If they bodged it first time then you may have a case but without knowing the kind of driving you've done it's difficult to say.0 -
So we would go out every weekend shortist distance would be around 30 miles and we have done a few of journeys to Edinburgh and London and we like to go out on the weekends

Ouch. Nowhere near enough for a diesel. As a bare minimum you need to be doing 1000 miles a month and that doesn't guarantee a lack of dpf issues.
They replaced it last year. With that style of driving it could well clog in 12 months. I can't see them doing anything.
I know it's not what you want to hear and I appreciate it isn't easy but you have a money pit on your hands. You need a petrol car for that type of driving.0 -

Look for an independent garage that can do a DPF regen, rather than paying dealer rates to get it replaced. Will likely cost you under £500.0

It's possible the OP has another issue which is leading to the DPF problem. I'd suggest you ask on a Lexus/Toyota forum as the people there are far more likely to know the common problems for the specific engine.0 -
What oil is being put in the engine? I expect it should be a low ash oil as your regular engine oil can clog up a DPF. Check in the manual what oil should be used and compare with what oil has been put in it when serviced.0
