I'd pay to have the stumps ground rather than poisoned, then you can replant at once without waiting years for the stumps to decay, reminding you what was there!

    What does ‘stumps ground’ mean?

Much easier to change a house name than to live with sycamores. They should be banned...especially the ones my neighbour has on his boundary.

We have actually - it is now named after another tree!

Having just looked at one photo there's a fair bit of climbing and staged felling to do, and they'll need to bring a chipper along. Can't really comment on the price, but there's a fair bit of work there.

I'll take any spare rounds for my woodpile though. :-)

Yes, I think it is a fair sized job - the surgeon claimed 3 days - but we will see.
:-) - My woodpile will be truly replenished for the upcoming autum/winter :-)

We had a man in with a fearsome-looking machine that ate away at the stumps until there was nothing left - brilliant!

That looks really good - how much was it roughly when you got it done?

Sorry, it was a few years ago now and I can't remember. I know they wouldn't give a quote until they'd had a look at the size of the trunk (we'd already removed the large tree) and the access.

The cost is partly affected by which machine they can get to the site so the access is important.

You wouldn't have known anything had been there by the time they'd finished and cleared up.

No, the earliest the wood will be ready is autumn 2019. Burning wood that young isn't good for your flue or the locality.
