Sycamore Trees - ARGH
Hi All,
I have 2 large sycamore trees at the front of my property and they are really causing a fair amount of trouble with the sap, aphids and sticky cars, doors and anything that is at the front of the house.
We do not have a TPO on the trees - but wanted to know if anyone has encountered fierce sycamore trees and how you managed them.
Thanks in advance.

Are they your trees or belong to someone else?Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

Not sure how to manage mature trees but sycamores readily self seed and would advise anyone with young sycamores to question if they want large trees where they are. From experience they can become very large and expensive to remove within 15 years. If near to property they can cause damage.0

These are non-native giants weeds. Best removed.0

They are the bane of my life, next door has a huge sycamore I pull up seedlings all over my garden.0

I manage mine with a chain saw. They lay OK and look a lot better in the horizontal position.
They also make good violins, so I'm told....Stihl working on the carving skills.;)0 -
Unless the road's called Sycamore Avenue and everybody's got one, I bet the neighbours hate you ... and when you come to sell, buyers will look at that and think "don't want all that mess/hassle" .... if you can bear it, why not just get rid?0

Don't have an answer, but we also have a large sycamore, so I have a lot of sympathy and will be watching this thread with interest. Ours was a mature tree when we moved in 20 years ago.
I took my car to the carwash on Sunday afternoon so the stickiness didn't build up too much and by the time I went to work on Monday morning it was just as bad as before I washed it!2021 - mission declutter and clean - 0/20210 -
There's a huge one right opposite our house. I hate the seedlings which seem to be able to root in concrete. I hate the sticky sap which gets all over our cars. But I'd hate having to look at the ugly buildings it's hiding more...0
