Constructive dismissal?

Hi,
Our company is moving our team of 4 from Leeds to Manchester office. None of us are able to commute due to family commitments/costs etc. Can this be classed as constructive dismissal? They are not moving the whole office, only a small team.

It depends on your contract!0 -
Rule of thumb only but, in redundancy cases, re-location within a 50 mile radius may be considered suitable alternative employment.
Unless your current office is North East Leeds and the new office is South West Manchester it looks like this meets the criteria - plus most of the journey would be by motorway rather than B roads.
As 50Twuncle says, it depends on your original contract.0 -

Thanks for the response. I just read the contact, nothing mentioned about the relocation etc. The distance between the offices is just over 50miles. I guess I will have to look for another job in this case.0 -
Can't you push for redundancy ?
At least you will have some cash to survive on ?0 -
Can they not offer you another job within the company, have you spoke to your HR department ?
are you in a union ?0 -

No union, it is a sales job. Not looking into moving roles etc as the rest of the teams are very IT orientated (technical). Redundancy is only 4 weeks of my basic salary which isn't the best either.0 -

But if you are happy and can afford to leave with no payment- nobody can force you to....0 -
