Whenever I buy the 3 meter iPhone leads they either work poorly or stop working at all.
I don’t have this problem with 2 meter ones.

Is there something weak about iPhone 3 meter charging cables?

  • Without going into the technicalities, the longer a lead is the thicker it needs to be to work properly. I!!!8217;ve found the poorer ones only charge intermittently, charge slowly or break quite quickly. It!!!8217;s not necessarily the cheapest ones that are the worst either.

I got a 3m own-brand one from Maplin for £7.20 a couple of weeks ago which has been great so far. Unfortunately Maplin are closing down so it!!!8217;s pot luck whether they will have any more in your local shop. There were plenty at Cardiff (Newport Road) when I was there. I should go back and get a couple more.

I thought the length might be the reason.
According to an online site Anker powerline cables are the best, they are £11 on Amazon, I think I may as well try one.

I have bought 3 of the long Anker cables and all 3 have failed. Unlike their short cables which seem good quality the long ones are pathetic and just stop working.

not only is it down to voltage drop over the length, but also for data use, its screws with the usb2 timings. takes too long for a data bit to go down a longer cable.
