Vehicle idling on drive

Good evening,
Tonight whilst leaving for work I had an encounter with a neighbour. I have a VW campervan, which admittedly is a bit smelly on start up for about 2 mins till it warms up.
Tonight my neighbour came over to me shouting and screaming that he can smell it in his house, and generally being aggressive.
On a side note, I have a garage in a block, which he repeatedly blocks. I told him that if there is a problem I'm quite happy to put the van in the garage and manoeuvre in and out when required, BUT, I'll need him to leave me enough access to do this, to which he then started screaming at me saying "so you're saying it's my fault now then...?"
On my deeds for the property it's states that we have "right of way access" for the garage.
Right of way access to me is that when I want to park/remove my vehicle I should be able to, unimpeded.
Before I next speak to him, I'd like to be a bit a bit more clued up on where I stand. Is this something anybody could help with?

He's an argumentative neighbour. Nothing you are told on here will change that. Suggest he closes his window.
Do you need to run the van for two minutes before driving off?0 -
Rule 123, Highway Code
You MUST NOT leave a parked vehicle unattended with the engine running or leave a vehicle engine running unnecessarily while that vehicle is stationary on a public road.
Just for future reference.0 -
Could you talk to a local dealer about - "Exhaust retrofits are used to reduce emissions coming out of the vehicle!!!8217;s tailpipe/mufflers. They use a catalytic process and/or filter technology to reduce carbon monoxide, hydrocarbon emissions, and diesel particulate matter (DPM). There are three types/levels of exhaust retrofit devices:"?0

Lucky it`s not on a public road then.

It's a 30 year old diesel so ideally yes, but I'm quite happy to start it up, move it down the road and then wait while it warms up. But he was just on me as soon as the key turned0

So on my private drive, there is no problem..? It's not even a case of it idling. He just doesn't want it started up, period. But the flip side Is, don't block the garage and I'll he more than happy to put it in there. It's not me being difficult, I couldn't careless where it's parked, drive or garage.0

It is rather antisocial to leave a diesel idling near to any property. Any diesel is pretty noisy - I was woken by a neighbour who left their Audi A3 diesel idling in the street at 6.30am on a Sunday morning and they live about three doors away.
Why can't you start your vehicle and drive it away immediately? It will warm up much more quickly you drive it.The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0 -
