Installing a Log Burner in a Smoke Free Zone

Hello,

I have just found out that the area I live in has a 'smoke control order'. It says I can burn smokeless fuels- can I have a multi fuel burner and burn smokeless fuels?
I don't want a gas or electric fire. Is there a way around getting a multi fuel burner but still abiding by the smoke control order? I.e- is there certain brands/makes which cater for this?

Yes you can burn smokeless fuels and if the stove is DEFRA approved you can burn wood as well.

Installation of a log burner will also require Building Regulations approval, contact your local authority regarding this.

ok. They will have no problem with installing a log burner as long as it's Defra approved, right?

Not if it is installed by a HETAS registered installer. You only need the local council involved if you DIY or use a non-HETAS contractor.

You will be fine as long as it is properly installed (see my other reply concerning that).
