Many of the sheds did away with their sheet cutter. My local indy DIY store has one though. The problem is going to be finding the size, you can't get 188x135 out of 244x122 in one piece.

I don't know if you need this for a double bed base but it is the same size. When I needed to cover a slatted bed the choice was to use two sheets or to save money to have the one sheet cut into 3 pieces which is what I did. I got the local timber merchant to cut a 8mm MDF sheet into 3, one of the piece was a bit small but it did the job from one sheet.

That is true, it is for a bed base!

If its to spread the load over broken bed slats two pieces of 6mm mdf works. I did this for a friend a few years ago on a superking double bed. Borrowing slats from areas where there is little weight helps.

If its over something Ikea slats remember they add spring. If I was to put something over them I'd probably go for ply to allow it to follow the curve of the slats a bit, but I've never done it.

If you have a solid bed base you might need to drill large holes into it to allow air to pass (so mattress doesn't get damp).

Easiest option is to phone where you plan to visit and ask if they will cut sheets. Some B&Q offer the service, some don't.

As said sheet material is 1220mm wide so you will need to join to achieve the size
