One on the second page: "It is clear that this ISP is run by people who actually know what they are doing." Says it all really.
(I have used them for fifteen years and recommend them)
As the OP was talking about BT, I assumed they were looking at mainstream providers.
Yes you can pay a premium if that's what you want, but most people don't want that.0 -
BT Consumer , while being far from prefect, IMHO probably get more unfair criticism than most , because in many people's minds there is no difference between BT Consumer, and Openreach or BT Wholesale.
An advantage that communication providers other than BT have, is when one of their customers has a problem, they could be told 'it's not our fault , it's our supplier BT/Openreach' and the end user apportions 'blame' accordingly, and possibly takes to a public forum to 'vent' their displeasure , the same excuse wouldn't be useful to BT Consumer with one of their customers, as the BT customer could well think 'well , same difference'.
I've seen many a post on forums like this where a customer of a provider (not BT) exonerates the CP totally, and blames 'BT' when BT Consumer have absolutely no involvement with that individuals service at all.0 -
I took the leap and just signed up. We'll see how it goes from here.0

I changed from BT to TalkTalk, for a few months, nothing but trouble from the onset. They where in breach of contract I changed back to BT. Now my wifi is far exceeding the minimum speed.
TalkTalk a few days ago sent me a bill for breach of contract. I had to spend hours on the phone (had already been told by a customer service manager, that I would not be charged). Finally got it sorted.
I screen shot everything on chat and save every email. Which thankfully helped to resolve the issue.
Netherspark think you have made the right choice.0 -
That would be my experience of them, yes.
Long ago, after they way they seriously mucked my elderly mother around when she was a customer, I resolved never to have anything to do with BT.
So you can imagine my unbridled joy when a year or so back I started getting demands for payment off them.
So I contacted BT - First attempt resulted in their "Customer Service" operative hanging-up on me without doing anything. Second got me to a bloke who demanded that I prove to them that I wasn't a customer. Third attempt seemed more positive - I actually got to a sympathetic bloke who said he would resolve the matter and that would be the end of it.
Yeah....
They only sold me on to a bunch of pushy, aggressive and harassing debt collectors who pursued me mercilessly or over a year.
So I took it up with BT at high level - Which was a complete waste of time because they never accepted that I HAD NOTHING WHATSOEVER TO DO WITH THEM AND DIDN'T OWE THEM A BRASS FARTHING but never produced any evidence of my having any kind of debt to them and with frequent sly references to signed contracts and details on file etc till eventually they firmly told me they would do no more.
That's when I got Action Fraud involved and surprisingly, I've not heard a peep out of them or their pet debt vultures for over six months now - Which is fine by me..!
So yeah, great British company with no sense of honesty, integrity or responsability whatsoever - don't trust them as far as you could throw an old-style phone box.

I switched from EE broadband to BT about 2-3 months ago and wish I hadn't as I have had nothing but hassle. There customer service is very bad. Only changed to save a couple of pounds a month which I now regret. Will switch to someone else when the contract is up..0

Fixed that for youAs the last 3 price rises have had gaps of 10 months in between, come November there should be another one!

A bit late with some input.
However, I moved from Plusnet to BT on the 1st May. It does work out a bit cheaper when the £130 reward card is factored in but that wasn't the main reason for migrating. Plusnet's very small price increase made the move possible without penalty.
I had an ongoing problem with fibre speeds which did previously attract three OR engineers who could find nothing wrong. Plusnet consistently told me there was nothing they could do, no faults indicated on my line.
I realised the fault would follow me but Plusnet seem either incapable or scared of pushing their BT masters further. Their communication to customer (me) was abysmal too.
It was like a breath of fresh air with BT. Within a week of me reporting the fault along with excellent text and phone comunication from both BT and Openreach, the problem was diagnosed and fixed.
They sent an excellent, very experienced OR engineer possibly because I had advised them of the ongoing fault and three previous OR visits.
He located the problem to be in the cable from the pole to their 4th new master socket!
New cable installed - result perfectly stable connection, quite line and expected speeds. I had informed of some noise on the line to both PN and subsequently BT. The line fault was causing the dynamic management to reduce everything to a stable situation.
Possibly more of a rant against Plusnet than praise for BT.:)0
