My next door neighbour has a black bathroom. If I'd known before I saw it my reaction would have been "urgghh" but it is actually very nice. It's not harsh black though, but sparkly. Can you get rid of all the red and replace it with soft or pastel colours - blue-grey towels, or pale mauve, or similar? Any chance of a tall towel rail to soften one of the expanses of black wall with freshly laundered towels on it? And maybe just use the first bathroom photo - the second has far too big a mass of black on it.

    not for me

open plan kitchen - OK - means you can see what the kids are up to whilst they play and you cook, but, so much wasted space. Dining table pushed against wall. Pic 5 suggests the lounge is part of the open plan but it obviously isn't when you look at the floorplan, so what is the point of the space in pic 5? Cannot envision living there!

Bed 1 - shame no feature fireplace, otherwise OK

bed 2 - bedroom? technology man cave? both?

bed 3 - oh dear? double bed in there, really???? Lie on top of each other whilst watching TV at right angles? 3rd bedroom yet presented as an adult's room?

bed 4 - it isn't! It should (?) be technology man cave 2
bathroom - OK I happen to accept black + red. It is a "statement" & appeals. Not everyone would, hey ho. Crucially it appears large enough for bath and shower, that is good.

pic 1 - it's just me, but I so much prefer the look of next door as it is somewhat suggestive of art deco. Yours on the other hand is suggestive of horrid plastic windows

pic 3 - ok room, suggests secondary "snug" for winter nights, but hand on, this is supposed to be the main living room yet there is so much more space in the open plan. So, despite modern trend (?) being to be able to watch the kids whilst cooking, I'd want to make that into the kitchen and convert the open plan into the main living area. Bit hang on, this is Doncaster, I'd never get the costs of that extent of works back when selling, so is this a "final" home and thus expenditure is irrelevant? Answer: no...

Thanks for all the replies they!!!8217;ve been helpful
Yes the house is flat roofed but it is not felt we had it all fibreglassed and I get what folk say about flat roofs but none of us have had any issues with roofs and they!!!8217;ve been here since the 30s. Everyone told me not to buy it due to problems with flat roofs but its a bit outdated now technology has moved on. You also don!!!8217;t have the expense of repointing ridge tiles, loose slates wind damage guttering etc I certainly would buy a flat roof house again as I know from experience a lot of it is myth. The other plus is insulated roof so no loss of heat into a loft etc therefore lower heating costs. I take on board everyone!!!8217;s comments and will empty out the 4thbedroom,tone down the colour in the kitchen and have sorted the garden etc. I can!!!8217;t with 6ft sons remove the double bed as he can!!!8217;t sleep in a single but will stage a single bed in room 4. I have re jigged the living room made a proper dining room and have the decorator booked so again thanks and hopefully we will get some more viewings and photos updated

I have seen black bathrooms that are very attractive. This one looks awful - but is it really as horrid as it looks or are the photos just badly lit?

As above - toilets opening into rooms is a really bad idea too.

When I was revamping a previous house, I found that having a toilet open directly into a kitchen was against the building regulations - do you have building regulations approval for all the work done?

The toilet does not open into the kitchen or dining room and yes I have full planning approval and certification for all works carried out
