Kia warranty
Im new here so apologies if this is in the wrong place. I purchased a 2016 kia, still under warranty. We have discovered that a defective brake caliper has damaged the disc and pad on the drivers side. This is covered by the warranty however I have been told I will need to pay £60+ for the passenger side disc as they need to be replaced in pairs. Seems a little unfair to me as the passenger side would not need replacing at all if the defective caliper had not damaged the driver side disc. I have complained to customer service however they state that warranty have refused my complaint. Is it worth me continuing to dispute this? I have never owned a car under warranty so do not know what my next step should be.

Just pay the £60 and get the pair done, it will be a lot easier than arguing that you don't need to replace them as a pair.
Once the new pads are bedded in there shouldn't be any difference in braking effort unless the old disc is well scored or worn. However, there will be a big difference at first if there is a brand new disc and pad on one side and the other is the perfectly bedded in old one.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

Logic tells me that if the passenger side parts need to be changed because of a fault that is covered by the warranty, then the warranty should cover them. But logic & the real word don't often correlate.
Have you scoured the warranty terms & conditions for the "get out clause" they are using?
On the other hand £60 sounds good for a disc (& presumably pads) that may need changing soon anyway.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0 -
I have had a look through but no luck as yet, the warranty info doesn't specify every part. I know that I will end up paying the cost and £60 isn't a huge amount , it is just a little irritating that the part is perfectly fine. There are only 20000 miles on the car so would expect the discs to last longer than that. I think I may just have to accept the charge. They aren't charging the extra labour to fit the passenger side disc so I am only paying for the part.0

At the first service of my current car, having covered about 10,000 miles I reported a slight judder under braking from high speeds.
They reported the driver's side disk was out of true and causing the issue. Even though only one was defective both were changed under warranty. It never entered my head they would charge me for half the job.
Push them harder for a satisfactory resolution. The part will cost them peanuts.0 -
I hope the £60 is part and labour. Otherwise Kia spares are very expensive. £60 ought to buy a pair of discs & pads.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

I believe there were some Kia brake parts changed under recall, might be worth a check to see if this is your model and faultI'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

No they're not. I've had two Kias and spares cost very much the same as any other similar car.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0 -

Exactly, so £60 for just one brake disc is too much.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
