Are my car mods going [Removed] (Insurance)
Comments

As above, if the car has been modified from the factory in any way, it could invalidate insurance. I vaguely recall someone who had a religious car sticker get in to trouble because of it. Similarly, I remember reading about dealer-fitted optional extras also needing to be declared.
There are some mod-friendly insurance companies out there eg adrian flux, brentacre etc so have a look round.0 -

The car was plastered in stickers promoting her business/employer, which she hadn't declared.

She was warned: "The policy may be declared void".
Age UK told her in a letter: "These modifications do not fit our acceptance criteria for motor insurance and cover would have been declined if we had been made aware of these at the time of purchasing your policy.

Possibly, you'd need to talk them through it all.I can't really afford :wall:to lose my policy, I don't want to extend the use of this darn black box any longer than necessary. :wall:
You might be better just taking all the tacky crap off your car until you've got a decent enough history to not use a black box.0 -
The fitter for the insurance black box on my sons car (wasn't on behalf of tesco though) said that he has to take photos all round of the car and send to them as a cross check that the insurance details of the car are and its value are as I described to them.
He said some insurance companies genuinely class modifications to include things such as adding a 'turbo' sticker to the back of the car although, I admit, that is anecdotal evidence. He also said having a dashcam is often considered an 'extra' for black box insurance policies as it could increase the chances of a break in if left in the window when parked.
All things that make me wonder whether a black box policy is simply a large pool of get out clauses and small print waiting to be triggered.
Good luck.0 -
There was a bit more to that one...

Predictable sky wizard logic of immediately trying to claim it was about her faith. They have concluded that our request to declare all modifications was not made clear enough to Rev Parry and therefore she did not know which vehicle enhancements should have been declared.
Apparently that's not clear!Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

It wasn't
That's the issue.
She modified her car with stickers that promoted a business and could potentially lead to vandalism. When she was called up on this fact she tried to claim the issue wasn't the stickers (which it was), but rather the CONTENT of the stickers.
That is to say, she (wrongly) believed if the stickers were non-religious, they would have been ok. The insurance company confirmed from the off that the issue was purely the modification but she tried to make it about religious discrimination as it suited her angle as it allowed her to get in the god squad protesting about how Christians were being discriminated against to get bad publicity for the insurer to try and get around the fact her case was lost before she started.
It's the same as that BA check in desk worker who was told off for wearing a crucifix on a chain when the company policy was no jewellery, she tried to change the argument into one of religious discrimination even though the policy clearly stated no jewellery and there is no religious requirement in Christianity to wear a crucifix unlike say a Sikh man who has to wear a turban as part of his faith.Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
