CTC and Freelance Work

So I have been at home with my youngest having been made redundant a few years ago. Husband is on quite a low income so we were also getting WTC and CTC as he has now gone over the threshold (I think it is 18k per year? He is on about £18,200 and we have two kids) we don't get WTC anymore.
My question is this I am just starting to be offered some freelance work so I am re-registering wth HMRC as self-employed (I was self-employed a few years ago alongside my job) and of course Tax Credits will be notified. I'm worried that our CTC will be taken away as I am now earning some money, but my income isn't reliable yet although I could see this becoming more consistent as time goes on. How does it work with Tax Credits for freelancers? Do we give an estimate of our income and then they reassess it when I do my self-assessment?
I'm so frightened of having our tax credits stopped as happened with Concentrix.
Any advice welcomed.

Yes you give an estimate of your income which can be updated at any time. At the end of the year they'll ask for you actual income. Whether that stops your CTC depends on the figures.0

Thanks I will contact them tomorrow.
Yes, I understand that they would stop if I earned too much.
Last time we submitted a change in circumstances back in 2015 we had our tax credits stopped immediately because Concentrix cocked everything up and I am so paranoid about this happening again as we were left penniless for weeks.Make £10 a day: £48.76/£1500
