HELP! Dog hair problem
fiveyearplan
I have 2 springer spaniels aged 4 and 5 (father and daughter). This is the second pair we have had. The problem is how do I stop them shedding SO MUCH hair! We have tumbleweeds of dog hair rolling about the place. It takes me so much extra time cleaning just because of the dog hair.

i have the same problem with my two, i've got to admit, mine have a regular clipping and brushing to keep moulting to a minimum.
there's no simple answert i'm afraid!!0 -
I brush my Lab in the local park, if I do it in the garden it seems to blow straight back in the house. I use a special moulting comb AND a slicker brush to get both layers of coat out. And she is so daft, she actually enjoys being hoovered!"Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0

My lab loves being "brushed" with her shedding blade (looks like an instrument of torture :rotfl: ) and we tend to do that at back of the house where it can't blow back in or at the park. I tend to ignore the strange looks
But I believe Springer hair is much different and I have friends who swear by furminators or coat kings BUT I know groomers who hate them. I guess it depends what type of coat you want them to have... hand stripping is another (laborious) option.
Whatever you choose daily regular grooming is the answer - Poppy is being groomed twice a day at the moment while she gets her winter coat!0 -
My LabX likes being hoovered too:DGive a person a fish and you feed them for a day; teach that person touse the Internet and they won't bother you for weeks.:D0

my sam loves a good hoover... he'll stand there in the bathroom while i'm taking a shower just so he can catch the spreay in his mouth and get his face wet. he doesn't like the haridryer but love a good rub down with a towel0

If you come across a thing called a "ZoomGroom" they are quite good. My labX loves being groomed with it!
You will be amazed how much fur comes out. Its a sort of rubberery plasticky hand-brush.
Failing that you could have your dog professionally shampooed and dried (the turbo drier gets rid of LOADS of hair off the dog!!:D ):wave:0 -
Money saving way? Turn the central heating off

Other then that, regular grooming - brushing daily, using a coat king to keep the coat down if you arent up to hand stripping and investing in a darn good vaccum - I have a meile cat and dog and wouldnt use anything else0 -
Thanks everyone. Yes, they enjoy a good hoovering too! We just had them groomed yesterday so I will look out for a zoomgroom and/or a coat king. Brushing them at the park sounds a good idea too so the hair doesn't blow back into the house.
