Like that idea pobby I will do that as I have tons of beads that I can give her then pad it out with a few bought ones. Thanks for that idea. She is very shy sweet and a little young for her age, omly girl with 4 lively brothers. I plan to have some girlie time with her on the day so beads and Loopa would be fun, Loopa is a scarf making kit.Nothing Changes if Nothing Changes0

I find that a large thing sticking out of the stocking looks good-a large selection box or a paint box is good and not too expensive. I also second the suggestions around bath foam and craft bits/pens etc. I also put in a can of something fizzy and a cheap video or dvd if they've got a player in their room as it keeps them going a bit longer before they wake me!0

They sell really amazing bead sets in poundland for children and even do looms. I'd highly recommend you take a look in there.

claires have 5 for £5 on at the mo (or they did at the weekend) so you can nab lots of nice girly bits worth way more than £5 and they will know the brand name too
If you have a matalan clearence store near by they have fantastic scarves reduced from £6 to £1 and 70p at the moment (they had hundreds in mine!) so worth a look. Also some nice dresses down from £16 to £2 in the adult section so no doubt the kids section was even cheaper!!
Im not much help for boys really sorry, but Tesco have DVDs reduced down to £2 and £3 at the moment too, and some great ones! so worth a look0 -
So much information thank you all so much. I didn't even know there was a Matalan Clearance shop, we live near Leeds any one know of one near us? Will be paying Poundland a visit.Nothing Changes if Nothing Changes0

Hi
have a look at this website for cheap stocking fillers. I've ordered from it loads of times, you can pay using paypal, postage is free and delivery usually takes about a week.....
www.dealextreme.com
If you open a free customer account with them you also earn points on your spend for free gifts.... I do have a referral link if any one is feeling generous pm me for link, that way I earn points and you still get your points....
Just wanted to add that I am by know means connected to this site but I think its fantastic and has really cheap quirky pressies...
Hope this helps someone, has saved me loads!0 -
Here's a tip: If you go to charity shops and spot stuff to keep them occupied, but it's not brand new and you're not comfortable with that .... then why not buy it anyway, just not as a gift. But bring out an additional "box of stuff I happen to have that might amuse you too".
So you don't feel you're trying to palm them off with inferior goods. Also works well if you've picked up something for 10p that's brand new but a bit manky looking.... kids won't care if it's a gift or in the "box of stuff also" ... at the end of the day, especially if you "allow" them to keep the other items too.0 -
re the matalans discount stores, try giving your local store or the head office a call and ask them where your nearest is
i only know where my nearest is when im in n.ireland sorry.
also if next have a 1 day or a weekend sale between now and christmas, go to their sale shop on the day of the regular shops sale and pretty much everything is under £4 (pricey bits being things like ladies trousers lol so kids stuff is a bargain!)0 -

If you do buy lots of little good quality items from a charity shop or boot sales, they can be all put into a box or basket, either of which can be decorated easily to make it look special. The kids won't bat an eyelid that the contents are 2nd hand, they will be too busy rummaging through their *little treasure trove* and it will seem as though they've got a lot more than if you bought them 1 gift.0 -

Def look in poundland and the 99p stores as they usually always have lovely sets of beads and accesorys to make bracelets and necklaces usually in a plastic case.
I have brought a few of these for my little girls and nieces over the last few years as stocking fillers or rewards treats and for a £1 you cant go wrong.0
