Any cheap stocking fillers ideas?

My bro in law has just become a single parent with mum in another country. He will be having the 5 kids and he is fine with this he is an amazing dad. We are offering to have them come for christmas day. They live quite a way from us, 120 miles, and I don't know his kids too well, mum hard work etc. Anyway I have decided to make this a special christmas day and my plan of a hamper has changed to presents for all plus small gifts on the table and stockings for all. I don't think they have had them before as they don't usually get much for christmas. I am trying to come up with silly ideas for their stockings and cheap please. I thought of gel pens for girls bath bombs plus others. For my boys I used to buy the polysyrene planes, bouncy balls, puzzles etc. Any suggestions would be great. I want this to be a fun time without spending a fortune as we don't have it. Ages 6-14. Mine are all grown up, well one of them is a big kid still but guess he always will be daft how could he avoid it growing up in this madhouse! Thanks in anticipation. :T

  • If you have a hawkins' bazaar anywhere near you they have a whole section of little toys designed for pocket-money buys - literally, pence - wind up ducks, glow in the dark aliens, light-up yoyos, spinning tops(!) little puzzles, loads of things kids LOVE.

The expandable flannels are good too. Me and my sister used to love them.

Here is their website, they are probably the best toyshop I have seen in years!!! Click on "stocking fillers" on the menu list on the left.

the early learning centre has nice cheap crafty bits for all ages, the works bookshops often do a nice line in cute little note pads and stationary too. Wilkinsons often has small bits in as well. You can also buy the bags of toys they do for childrens party bags and split them up as they are often very cheap, Wilko's has a load of these last time I looked, everything from little paracute men to sparkly tiaras.

Wilkinsons currently have an offer on bags of chocolate gold coins, 99p for two and also on medium sized chocolate selection packs, 99p each or two for £1.50. I hope this helps :)

Do you have any boot sales or charity shops near you? I picked up lots of little bits and piece for only a few pence. Most toys look like new with a bit of a wipe and once wrapped no-one will know.

    Good luck.

Also checkout your local poundstores and 99p stores as i found the paint a piggy bank in my local 99p stores a couple of weeks ago and they are a nice present for most ages.

Sometimes in the poundland and 99p stores u can find some nice bits.
